It forms an integral element of the overall SGIL RISQ department in helping to provide a holistic oversight and challenge to the business in effectively managing risk within the SGIL and within the approved Risk Appetite.

The primary purpose of the role is to provide assurance as to the design and operation of all key process controls within the SGIL business activities.

The function is independent of direct business line responsibilities, so that it can provide an objective and unconflicted view on the identification and management of operational risk within the business.

The SGIL RISQ function is headed by the SGIL Chief Risk Officer (CRO) who has reporting lines to the SGIL CEO, the Chair of the Board Risk Committee and the SG Group RISQ function within Paris.

This role will give the incumbent direct working exposure to SGIL senior management, as well as to all teams within support functions and front offices in 1LOD. They will also work closely with the other risk and control functions, such as Audit and Compliance.

The job requires a high level of autonomy, strong analytical, writing and presentation skills, data analysis and strong interpersonal and coordination skills to interact with numerous persons in various departments on a regular basis.

Summary of the key purposes of the role -

 Support the provision of 2LOD oversight and challenge on the identification and management of operational risk within the SGIL business activities, in line with SGIL and SG group policies and procedures; and SGIL's Risk Appetite Statement.

 Perform control testing of the design and operation of key operational controls to provide assurance on the effective embedding of the SGIL risk framework with the 1LOD responsibilities.

 Perform risk reviews of all key SGIL business processes and activities and identify all inherent risks and assess the adequacy of the related controls in mitigating risk.

 Liaise with the SGLB RISQ/OPE Group on the control testing of generic processes and activities to ensure adequate and comprehensive testing of SGIL related dependencies and support services that are outsourced on an intra group basis.

 Identify, document and present controls improvements and agree related action plans with the 1LOD, as required.

 Monitor the implementation of all recommendations and test the embedding of improvements within business processes and responsibilities.

 Provide analysis of the type and trend of control weaknesses and residual risks within the SGIL processes and formulate generic actions to address any identified risk themes.

 Provide any consolidated reporting on the control testing results to the SGLB RISQ/OPE function, as required.

 Effective communication and liaison with senior management and key stakeholders, including Board Members and SG Group management.

Summary of responsibilities -
