Operations and Finance Assistant - Mid-market Private Equity

The business:

My client are is one of Europe's most successful mid market Private Equity firms with over €5 billion of funds under management, typically investing equity of between €20m - €200m in portfolio companies in multiple countries.

The firm is looking for an Operations and Finance Assistant who will play an integral part in the Central Operations and Finance function across the business. This very broad role is a new one, requiring the successful candidate to support and assist with Fund and Corporate group accounting as well as investor reporting and other ad hoc duties when required.

This is an ideal opportunity to work in a small team with exposure to a variety of areas within a busy alternative investment business.

Responsibilities:

Corporate group accounting

  • Maintaining ledgers for the corporate group in Sage 200 accounting system ensuring ledgers are closed at month end and year end within the agreed timetable

In-house managed Funds' accounting

  • Assisting with quarterly report workings
  • Producing quarterly investor reports using the Fund reporting system
  • Assisting with distributions
  • Maintain investor contact and bank account details

Investor queries and communication

  • Monitoring and taking ownership of the investor mailbox, liaising with the wider finance team and external administrators to respond to investor queries

Regulatory reporting

  • Preparing the FCA financial returns for the business (which is FCA-regulated)

Tax

  • Preparing quarterly VAT return for the Group
  • Collating information for corporate, partnership and partner tax returns
  • Collating information for annual PAYE Settlement Agreement

Accounts payable

  • Monitoring and taking ownership of the supplier mailbox, liaising with people around the organisation on expense items and supplier invoices as required
  • Using the firms internet banking platform to pay suppliers for the corporate group and in-house managed Funds
  • Collating invoice packs for the externally administered Funds, obtaining necessary approvals and sending over to Fund administrators to process the payments

Annual Audit

  • Preparing annual statutory accounts for corporate entities and in-house managed Funds with supporting schedules
  • Liaising with auditors and clearing any audit queries

Legal Support

  • Providing KYC and AML support to the legal team as required

Adhoc

  • Supporting the maintenance of UK infrastructure and equipment
  • Providing other ad-hoc support to the finance team and wider teams as required

Your skills and experience will ideally include:

  • Prior experience in a broad role in a finance team
  • Financial services accounting experience preferred but not essential
  • Strong Excel and PowerPoint and Sage 200 skills
