The Role: Petrochemicals Researcher

Grade ( relevant for internal applicants only ): 10

The Location: London, Gurgaon, Singapore, Virtual

The Team: The S&P Global Platts petrochemicals team provides benchmark price assessments across a wide range of petrochemical markets in APAC, EMEA and the Americas.

The Impact: You will be responsible for leading strategic research into global petrochemical markets, with an emphasis on Sustainability and Energy Transition.
This research will be instrumental in helping Platts identify opportunities to evolve and grow its petrochemical pricing portfolio and better serve customers in these transitioning markets.

Responsibilities:
  • You will lead research into a broad range of global petrochemicals markets.
  • You will monitor emerging market trends, and study the impact of policy changes, technology innovation and shifting market dynamics on the industry's growth prospects.
  • You will conduct research and build projections on stakeholder' demand for market intelligence in traditional sectors and emerging ones, such as recycled plastics, biochemicals and low-carbon products.
  • You will work in close collaboration with a global team of Researchers, Editors and Analysts to identify growth opportunities for Platts, and leverage Platts cross-functional capabilities to accelerate data collection and analysis.
  • You will develop relationships with key industry stakeholders, and attend meetings and industry events virtually and/or in person.
  • You will work under the supervision of regional and global petrochemical managers.
  • You will present research findings through accurate datasets, reports and presentations.
What We're Looking For:
  • Five+ years of experience in petrochemicals/commodity market research/reporting, or relevant industry experience.
  • Experience leading projects independently.
  • Experience conducting cold calling and building strategic relationships with industry stakeholders.
  • Ability to present research findings to senior leaders.
  • Solid understanding of commodity market fundamentals and dynamics, and desire to further develop knowledge of global sustainable petrochemicals, including conducting market sizing and value chain mapping.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Self-starter, independent thinker and resourceful.
  • Ability to work effectively with others, many of whom may be working remotely.
  • Ability to prioritize and perform multiple tasks simultaneously.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor degree.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Commodity industry experience, such as research, reporting, or analytical.
  • Experience in research and project management.
  • Understanding of commodity/petrochemical markets fundamentals.
  • Experience building and maintaining industry relationships.
  • Commodity price assessment experience.
