IHS Markit is seeking an experienced candidate to join its team of industry analysts covering global telecom service provider technology markets. As a Principal Research Analyst for video technology the successful candidate will work as part of the Service Provider Technology team responsible for researching, analysing and managing data, interpreting issues and creating and presenting original, high quality insight into future trends that could affect video industry stakeholders and other IHS Markit clients
In this role, the Principal Research Analyst demonstrates an excellent understanding of selected video technology markets and industries and/or more sophisticated analytical tools. The Principal Research Analyst is the lead analyst for their defined market and works to ensure that data, forecasting and qualitative insights produced are of consistently high quality to inform and support our clients' business decisions. The Principal Research Analyst acts as a thought leader on strategic issues for video equipment vendors and service providers such as OTT, Android TV, UHD & HDR, virtualisation, video ecosystems, M&A and regulatory impacts. They also build and maintain a contact network with the media and among pay TV and video service providers, equipment vendors, and large technology companies.

The Principal Research Analyst takes initiative in defining and solving more complex problems independently and interacts with clients and industry stake holders on areas of focus and expertise. The Principal Research Analyst also identifies and initiates key research topics, taking responsibility for researching, analysing & managing data, and interpreting current issues, to generate & communicate original, high quality insight into future trends that could affect stakeholders in industries and other IHS Markit clients.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for one or more aspects of data research, analysis and management, creation of data, forecasts, insights, or guidance to clients on strategic direction
  • Research/analyse and manage data relevant to the video technology industry.
  • Create and use quantitative and analytical tools.
  • Evaluate potential, risk, & opportunity of shifts in the industry landscape.
  • Communicate subject matter expertise to clients and colleagues verbally and in written form.
  • Identify and build personal and professional relationships in the applicable industry sectors that advance our research and business objectives.

    • Perform same-day analysis or author written analysis for peer review with minimal supervision.
  • Knowledge And Skills
    • Demonstrates working level knowledge of video technology and basic analytical tools.

    • Excellent knowledge of MS applications required (Excel, Word and PowerPoint); experience with databases preferred.

  • Experience
    • Minimum of 3 years of analyst or related industry experience required.
  • Education and Certifications
    • Good university degree (Bachelors or equivalent) with a strong mathematical component
