Would you thrive when presented with the opportunity to travel to client sites all over the world to lead engagements that are delivering bleeding edge finance software to some of the biggest names in the financial services, telco, and insurance industries? If so, keep reading.

The Organisation

My client is a fin-tech software firm whose specialist enterprise finance applications (described as visionary by Gartner) helps their clients conform to industry regulations to avoid the huge fines that they can incur if they don’t! They are rapidly expanding and the last 12 months has seen a huge 100% share price increase, they have also grown from 200 to 300 employees in that same time, which gives you an idea of which direction they are going in!

They very much have a start-up feel about them, with a non-corporate culture and they place a lot of emphasis on career progression. They highly value organic growth and like to promote employees at every opportunity that their performance is deserving of one, instead of having a rigid promotion structure set in place.

The Role

The role involves you travelling with a small team of consultants travel onto client site to implement the software. Whilst the Technical Consultant are there to do the technical implementation of the software the role of the Functional Consultant is to perform business analysis alongside the client to communicate clearly what is going on during the implementation, and what the accounting implications are. At Principal level you will be the most senior consultant on client site and will therefore be responsible for leading the engagement.

The role involves extensive international travel which provides the amazing opportunity to live in great countries such as The US, Singapore, Japan, and Australia! Projects may also be closer to home in Europe, in cities such as London, Dublin, and Paris. When on client site you will get to stay in nice apartments so you don’t have to live out of a hotel, and if you are outside of Europe you will get flown home once every 8 weeks to work out of the London office for a week to maintain work life balance.

Responsibilities:

  • Explain to the client the implications of the software in layman’s terms
  • Work with the client to perform accounting related Business Analysis
  • Sub-ledger and GAAP accounting requirements and configuration
  • Offer best practice advice, and design of the solutions
  • Explaining to the client what the software will do, and what implications it will have
  • Lead the client engagements

 The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • ACA or ACCA qualification
  • Experience defining and implementing accounting policy
  • Strong consulting experience
  • Experience in a finance line role within FS (e.g. product control, regulatory reporting)
  • Experience of designing Financial Systems / General Ledger projects
  • Experience working with data (data warehouses, data-marts, Business Intelligence)
  • Strong interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with the client
