Product Control Analyst - Gas and Power, LNG, FX, Derivatives required for London office of energy trader & refiner. Reporting to Product Control Manager - based in Risk Control Department.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for ensuring that the LNG, Gas, Power, FX and Derivatives position and P&L reporting are accurate and timely, and that commentary is meaningful and transparent;
  • Reviewing and checking daily that physical and paper transactions have been posted correctly, are within Trading Delegations of Authority, including hedging of trading FX exposure;
  • Escalation point for LNG, Gas, Power, FX and Derivatives Trading limit breaches. Reviewing market data, substantiating and documenting attribution methodology;
  • Providing management information and analysis as required and to proactively seek to provide commercial analysis;
  • Ensuring integrity of data through the implementation of suitable controls;
  • Responsible for developing, monitoring and maintaining control processes for the robust incorporation of structured product (modelled) transactions into daily reporting; responsible for initial validation of structured product model inputs;
  • Responsible for setup of controls for new business initiatives, and ongoing maintenance, development and improvement thereafter;
  • Responsible for communicating and escalating the development and maintenance requirements of infrastructure in support of business growth;
  • Responsible for calculation/maintenance of fair value adjustments (FVAs);
  • Responsible for oversight of the LNG, Gas & Power and Derivatives month end close process, including MI to accounts reconciliation;

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

  • Very strong understanding of risks (i.e. Greeks) and P&L attribution in the context of options and structured LNG, Gas & Power, FX and Derivative products;
  • Track record of improving (or devising and implementing) controls and procedures;
  • Skill in VBA and experience of Endur an advantage;
  • Experience in LNG, Gas & Power, FX and Oil Derivative products and markets;
  • Experience of managing or supporting significant business growth;
  • Project management experience;
  • Able to take, and maintain, an independent approach and challenge where appropriate.

EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum 3 years relevant experience
  • Commodities/Derivatives Product Control and/or Market Risk or Trading

EDUCATION

  • Degree level education, preferably in Finance/Banking/Mathematics/Statistics/Engineering
  • Professional qualifications (Accounting, ERM, CISI) an advantage
