The Role

We are looking for a number of prudential risk professionals to join our Financial Resilience Department (FRD). FRD's mission is to provide high quality prudential expertise across the firms we prudentially regulate, and support the organisation more broadly, to meet its objectives.

There are five teams in the department who work closely together with lots of cross team working. Two teams are primarily focussed on delivering our assessment work and responding to issues as they arise. Two teams are currently focussed on prudential risk in relation to a large cohort of particularly significant firms, including detailed monitoring and analysis of liquidity and funding positions in the changing market environment, and the fifth team is responsible for our data, analysis and structured finance work. We have roles available across all teams and involve using your prudential expertise and judgement to: assess information; engage with firms; form a view on which risks matter most, and how to mitigate them.

Lead Associates in the department are responsible for:

  • Leading financial resilience assessments and/or analysis across different prudential risks, business models and structured finance products.
  • Providing coaching, oversight and support to associates in the department.
  • Building prudential capabilities of supervisors in a defined sector(s).
  • Assist on the failing firms through representing the department on Prudential crisis management groups.
  • Identifying cross-cutting trends and themes and reporting these via governance channels and local management
  • Ensuring we are efficient in delivering high quality assessments/analysis on time.
  • Ensuring our work has impact and influence.
  • Role modelling Judgement, Engagement, Delivery and Self-Management

Senior Associates in the department are responsible for:

  • Leading and supporting financial resilience assessments and/or analysis across different prudential risks and business models.
  • Role modelling Judgement, Engagement, Delivery and Self-Management
  • Ensuring we are efficient in delivering high quality assessments/analysis on time.
  • Dealing with complex prudential queries from firms and supervisors.
  • Providing coaching and support to other associates in the department.

  • Can demonstrate the ability to explain complex issues succinctly and with clarity to both internal and external audiences; both orally and in writing.
  • A good team player who demonstrates an inclusive approach and the impact and influence to generate shared goals for the Department.
  • The ability to identify and manage key stakeholders, building rapport and constructive relationships. Ability to make a strong personal impact, persuading with well-reasoned arguments and challenging where appropriate.

Desirable skills

  • Understanding the FCA's approach to the regulation of financial institutions.
  • Good knowledge of the Basel framework and its implementation in the EU and UK and/or familiarity with non-IFPRU prudential regimes
