To help support the firm’s continued growth in Europe, Caravel seeks a consultant with a minimum of 12 months' recruitment experience to execute exclusive (‘sole recruiter’) search assignments in real estate.

Founded by John Lenz and Ian Lawlor, with over 30 years combined real estate experience, Caravel provides tailored recruitment solutions to clients that invest, develop, asset manage, finance and advise in real estate globally.

The firm covers four practice areas:

•             Investment Banking

•             Advisory

The firm has an international remit having successfully completed recruitment assignments in UK, Germany, France, Spain, Austria, Ireland, Scandinavia, United States of America, Netherlands, Luxembourg and the Ivory Coast.

Caravel recruits at all levels of seniority from managing director to analyst level.

The firm only works on exclusive (‘sole recruiter’) search assignments of which 20% are retained. 

Caravel has developed an extensive candidate database (Microdec profile) and has a large portion of the real estate market mapped out.

The successful candidate will not be expected to win mandates or manage client relationships from day one; the firm is at a stage in its development where it receives a lot of incoming business from existing clients; the successful candidate’s chief responsibility will be to execute recruitment assignments autonomously.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Execute exclusive (‘sole recruiter’) search assignments in real estate.
  • Attend meetings and participate in conference calls to discuss client’s recruitment needs and present candidate shortlists.
  • Undertake candidate screening interviews for specific search assignments.
  • Be an active participant in Caravel’s shortlist committees.
  • Coordinate the formatting of candidate CV’s for presentation to a client.
  • Send candidate shortlists including supporting interview notes to a client for a specific search assignment.
  • Discuss feedback on CV’s with clients and arrange candidate interviews.
  • Arrange and manage candidate briefing calls prior to an interview with a client.
  • Facilitate the two-way flow of feedback between candidate and client.
  • Consult with client to structure an attractive financial package for the successful candidate.
  • Extend the client’s offer of employment to the successful candidate.
  • Successfully manage and coach the candidate through the resignation process from their existing employer.
  • Review and (where appropriate) amend invoice to send to client for placement fee.
  • Help build & maintain an accurate candidate database (Microdec Profile).
  • Continuously strive to develop European real estate market knowledge; be up-to-date with current developments and trends; particularly with respect to people moves and hiring trends.
  • Occasional attendance at international real estate conferences such as MIPIM (Cannes) and EXPO REAL (Munich) for example.
  • Occasional European travel to execute search assignments in countries such as Germany, The Netherlands, France, Austria, Luxembourg and Spain.

Person Specification:

  • Proven track record of successfully executing recruitment assignments (temp or perm) autonomously.
  • Financial services recruitment experience, ideally in real estate, banking, private equity or corporate finance / M&A.
  • A strong desire to carve a niche for themselves in real estate.
  • Ability to influence people at all levels of seniority.
  • Strong communication skills both written and spoken.
  • High level of energy, enthusiasm and ambition; tempered with a good cultural fit: understated, mature, friendly and socially aware.
  • Willingness to adhere to Caravel’s core values of trust, kindness, fun & hard work.
  • Ideally degree educated.
  • Preference will be given to candidates that speak a second European language (ideally German or French).

Benefits:

  • Basic salary up to £35,000 (depending on experience).
  • First year OTE Up to £45,000.
  • 23 days holiday, increasing to 25 days after one year of employment.
