Regulatory Surveillance and Benchmarks Manager

Group Corporate Treasury (GCT) look after the Group balance sheet by creating and maintaining an appropriate structure that supports the Group's strategy and meets regulatory requirements. GCT ensure that the Group has sufficient capital resources, can access markets, raise wholesale funding, and hold sufficient liquidity all within our structural market risk appetite. We do this whilst providing the appropriate flexibility to accommodate the Group's strategic plans.

Besides raising capital and handling funding/liquidity, Group Corporate Treasury (GCT) has an additional directive to handle the compliance and operational risk in the Group's Balance sheet. GCT deals with products such as Money Market loans and deposits, interest rate derivatives (single and multiple currencies), spot and forward forex, currency options, fixed and floating rate securities and structured products.

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Regulatory Surveillance Manager to join the Business Unit Control Function within GCT team based in London.

Here in the Surveillance & Benchmark Team within GCT, we play a meaningful role in protecting the interests of Treasury. We're responsible for delivery of the oversight and monitoring, designed to provide assurance to our partners that the business is adhering to relevant rules and regulations.

You'll be based in Gresham Street office, but we pride ourselves on our agile working culture.

What would you get involved with?

Your primary focus will be on supporting the business to ensure that all compliance and risk policies and procedures are clearly defined and adhered to. Undertaking surveillance that means you'll help the business identify, monitor and minimise the risks they're exposed to. You'll also be keeping abreast of industry developments and initiatives, to enable you provide guidance and advice, in an informed and effective manner.

Your accountabilities will include:

  • Complete daily, weekly or monthly surveillance tasks including Benchmarks checks to provide certification that the firm's policies and procedures are being adhered to and that the teams systems and controls are effective (internal monitoring).
  • Understanding Breach management and oversight
  • Proactively identifying, appraising and communicating regulatory and industry developments and initiatives, supporting the business with implementation, where required.
  • Forming effective working relationships with GCT teams, working in partnership with them and others as required
  • Collaborate and drive delivery of conduct and operational risk 1st line surveillance, investigate issues and provide guidance and document accordingly
  • Producing reports, papers and presentations to a range of internal/external audiences as and when required, e.g. Surveillance Forums MI Packs, Risk Committee

About you…

Your written work is of an excellent standard, with attention to detail and accuracy. You're able to plan and organise your own workload optimally and have excellent prioritisation skills. And at the same time, being collaborative and supportive enables you to empower those around you and champion a team work approach.

You'll relish the challenge of managing a variety of business partners in this role. You're comfortable and credible in front of peers and more senior audiences, able to challenge where appropriate. You're an excellent communicator and able to present information and advice, insightfully and succinctly.

What skills and experience can you bring to the role (essential)?

  • Analytical mind and the ability to assimilate information into workable procedures
  • A broad knowledge of financial regulation from within a banking environment
  • MS Office Excel (high proficiency).

The following would also be desirable:

  • Audit and/or 1st line compliance monitoring experience, gained within the Financial Services industry
  • Excellent report drafting skills
