Your opportunity The role:
We are looking to hire a risk analyst with 3-5 years fixed income markets experience, a strong technical fixed income background and solid programming skills to work with the Chief Risk Officer as part of team of 5 risk professionals. Primary Responsibilities:
Risk reporting and management:
Maintain data and systems, produce internal and external risk reports, review, monitor and take required actions arising from risk exposures. Manage risk across all portfolios including daily interaction with portfolio management teams.
Regular and ad-hoc risk analysis:
Provide scheduled investment portfolio risk analysis and reports, and maintain systems for producing them, as well as carrying out ad-hoc analysis and proactively identifying analysis that can feed into the monitoring by the Risk function and the portfolio management teams.
Project work and development:
To assist in ongoing project work between Risk and the various functions, including IT , in order to develop further automation tools for the Risk function.
Firm wide source of risk expertise:
Contribute to maintaining the perception of the Risk function as the "go-to" team on risk topics, advising portfolio managers and other colleagues alike. Requirements:
Financial risk knowledge:
Good grasp of concepts, financial mathematics and practical application to investing and/or risk management.
Experience of working with fixed income products, including modelling of such instruments and the relevant risk metrics and sensitivities. Direct experience of Asset Backed Securities a strong advantage.
A strong belief in the importance of controls in mitigating risk, and the motivation to ensure their correct and complete execution.
Excellent at organising and processing large amounts of data, and at summarising and presenting information.
Problem solving skills:
Able to think laterally and innovatively to deliver solutions.
Drive and initiative
Able to work independently and proactively and to be able to judge when to ask for guidance.
Ability to build and manage key stakeholder relationships remotely (at least initially) and to work collaboratively as part of the broader overall team.
Systems / Development competencies:
Able to use Excel and/or databases, program in Excel VBA and/or other languages to an intermediate/high level. Familiarity with market data systems and portfolio management systems (e.g. Bloomberg AIM, Charles River). The ability to challenge existing processes and to work creatively to continually improve the quality and robustness of the team's risk management activity.
