About Hampshire Trust Bank

Hampshire Trust Bank is a UK bank focused on UK customers with centres of excellence in Asset Finance, Property Finance and Specialist Mortgages. We also provide competitive Savings accounts to individuals and businesses. A new management team acquired the bank in May 2014 with the backing of Alchemy (private equity investor) and will deliver sustainable growth through its experienced and innovative specialists.

About the team: Compliance

The responsibility of the Compliance team is to support the business in complying with all applicable laws and regulations as well as relevant internal procedures. We advise all staff on how to comply with the regulatory frameworks by helping them:

• To identify the risks that HTB faces (identification).

• To design and implement controls to protect HTB from those risks (prevention).

• To monitor and report on the effectiveness of risk controls (monitoring and detection).

• To resolve compliance difficulties as they occur (resolution).

• To advise the business on rules and most effective control options (advisory).

We also receive Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) from the business and if necessary, report these suspicions to the National Crime Agency (NCA). By monitoring laws and regulations to ensure the Bank works in a fair and legitimate way, the Compliance team helps create the right culture internally and prevent HTB from being fined and or penalised for breaching regulations, thereby protecting customers, employees and shareholders.
