Risk and Governance Manager - Global Client Solutions - London

We are looking for a Risk Manager to support the Head of Client Experience to develop, embed and monitor compliance with the Governance and Risk Management Framework within Global Client Solutions. This individual will provide support and challenge the Global Client Solutions business teams on matters relating to Governance, Operational Risk, Compliance and Financial Crime. They will also be responsible for governing and challenging the wider business on issues relating to the risks that the Head of Global Client Solutions is accountable for.

The Team

Our Global Client Solutions team are responsible for developing new business as well as looking after our existing clients to retain and grow our business. Our clients cover both the Institutional and Wholesale channel, incl pension schemes, insurance companies, and financial institutions across many global markets. We also speak to their third -party advisers.


  • Supporting the development and maintenance of Global Client Solutions (GCS) 1st Line of Defense Governance and Operational Risk Management framework and key deliverables (RCSAs) in accordance with the approved Aviva Investors risk management framework (IAI)
  • Supporting Global Client Solutions in understanding risk management, and maintaining a risk aware culture, through provision of day-to-day advice, support and challenge on Governance, Operational Risk, Compliance and Financial Crime related matters
  • Coordinating and facilitating completion of Global Client Solutions Risk profile reports
  • Providing accurate and relevant risk reporting to Global Client Solutions and Executive teams
  • Undertaking regular review of the systems and controls within Global Client Solutions, providing recommendations for improvement
  • Monitoring the risk remediation disposition
  • Testing of RCSAs and controls attestations
  • Supporting Global Client Solutions through the co-ordination and delivery of governance/risk related requirements (including 3rd and 2nd line enquiries, and submission of required reports for Gifts and Hospitality, Approved Persons and alike.)
  • Provision of risk and governance training to applicable Global Client Solutions staff as and when required
  • Coordinating the review and updating of Global Client Solutions policies and standard operating procedures
  • Facilitating Global Client Solutions Group Standards completion and associated reporting
  • Internal audit activity and controls assurance testing; Risks & Controls Self Assessment, including key risk indicators, controls monitoring and reporting



  • Degree or appropriate level of industry and technical experience
  • Commercial and financial awareness, including knowledge of current trends to identify emerging and changing risks
  • Good knowledge of risk management techniques and developments
  • Experience of risk analysis, recording and evaluation
  • Working knowledge of regulatory and legal requirements
  • Strong analytical skills and excellent attention to detail
  • Able to give advice and guidance within specialisation to staff at all levels
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise plan and adapt to best use resources
  • Proven ability to build and manage strong relationships with internal and external contacts at all levels
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a proven ability to influence decision making at senior levels
  • Excellent working knowledge of governance, process control and risk reporting best practice

Highly Desirable

  • Good knowledge of asset management distribution
