We are currently seeking an ambitious individual to support the oversight and governance of Accounting Risk, as defined in the operational risk taxonomy, within the Group. The role is a 2nd line of defence activity within the Global Finance Control Office SOX team, supporting the Accounting Risk Steward.

The successful candidate will have responsibility for:

  • Leading and coordinating the Entity Level Control (ELC) programme in relation to the organisation's compliance with the Sarbanes Oxley Act (US:2002) including:
  • Annual review of the ELC inventory and control design walkthrough.
  • Annual execution of the ELC operating effectiveness monitoring programme
  • On-going oversight of ELC deficiency remediation activities
  • Leading and coordinating the oversight of deficiencies related to Accounting Risk across the organisation including self-identified significant deficiencies and issues recorded in the external auditor's summary of aggregated deficiencies.
  • Leading and coordinating relevant accounting risk management information and reporting to various committees and Forums, including the GAC and EXCO.
  • Maintaining awareness of Op Risk Framework and ensure 2LoD responsibilities around Accounting Risk are implemented in accordance with the framework.

To be successful in the role, you should meet the following requirements:

  • Significant experience overseeing Operational Risk in a Finance function
  • Qualified Accountant with banking experience preferred
  • Experience of working with Internal and External Audit preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and strong stakeholder management skills, ability to effectively manage relationships and communicate with all levels of the organisation
  • Strong business writing skills
  • Good working knowledge of MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint is required, ORION knowledge desirable
  • Strong administrative skills and ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • Sound commitment to continuous improvement, self-motivated, confident, creative and capable of working effectively autonomously as well as part of a team
  • Ability to provide structure and solution to problematic areas, to challenge information presented, providing reasoned explanation to ensure that agreement is reached by both parties
  • Experience delivering challenging projects
  • Ability to translate high level guidance into practical application
  • Ability to adapt to changing requirements
