Your new role

As part of AustralianSuper's international growth plans, we are seeking a Senior Investment Analyst to join our Direct Private Credit (DPC) team within the Mid Risk Group, the team focuses on Property and Infrastructure Debt origination and structuring. You will use your broad-based analytical skills and emerging commercial acumen to accurately identify and analyse key investment issues and make recommendations to senior colleagues. You will be a key part of the team and assist across new transaction execution, asset management and portfolio management.

You will work collaboratively to lead excellent financial modelling outcomes for the portfolio. You will recommend, implement, and oversee high quality reporting and research in accordance with regular requirements, pertinent to the strategic priorities of the portfolio.

Consistent with our "One Portfolio" approach, you will proactively collaborate with peers and colleagues within the Mid Risk Group to share investment insights and assess opportunities.

Specifically, the Senior Investment Analyst will support implementation of the DPC Portfolio Strategy in Europe by contributing to new investment activity together with ongoing loan investment management.

DPC targets credit positions in real assets the Fund has asset class expertise in, being Infrastructure and Property, and typically within subordinated or mezzanine positions in the capital structure.

Due to the size and scale of the Fund, DPC is predominantly a global strategy targeting geographies in North America and Western Europe, on large tickets transactions.

Some of your key responsibilities will be:

  • Assist in screening, analysing, and executing new direct credit investment opportunities that meet the DPC Portfolio strategy.
  • Assist in the effective execution of the DPC strategy within Mid Risk.
  • More broadly provide support across the Mid Risk portfolio strategies.

Having made the decision to internalise a significant proportion of our investment activity, we have carefully established a team of talented and highly capable funds management professionals, united in their purpose to improve retirement outcomes for AustralianSuper members.

The Investment group's key activities include Asset Allocation & Research, and Total Portfolio Management, as well as asset classes that include Fixed Income & Currency, Capital Markets, Equities and Mid Risk Portfolios. Mid Risk Portfolios comprises our infrastructure, real estate and credit asset class teams overlaid with portfolio strategy, research and risk specialists at the portfolio group level.

To support the ongoing growth of the Fund, we established a permanent team in London. This enables the Fund to expand its global investment portfolio and build our international profile by having a permanent presence in Europe and hiring local specialists who will deepen our international relationships and support implementing local best practice based on local experience.

In a small scale office environment, you will be exposed to professionals across all of our Investment Asset classes, as well as other functions required to support them, giving you the chance to build broad relationships, gain a deeper understanding of how each of these areas operate and get involved in activities outside of your immediate role or team.

Our office is based at 2 Pancras Square in the Kings Cross which is part of the Kings Cross redevelopment project which is one of the core assets of our investment portfolio.

You'll need

  • Proven experience in an analytical role at a top tier investment manager, real estate agency, investment bank, management consultant or similar.
  • Superior quantitative financial modelling skills.
  • Excellent analysis and research skills.
  • Significant experience with undertaking analysis of information and drawing conclusions.
  • Transaction work stream management experience.
  • Asset/ investment management experience.
  • Advanced use of MS Office products especially Excel.
  • Diligent with excellent attention to detail.
  • Excellent report writing skills.
  • Excellent team player, with vision of the broader goals.
