The Department

Risk Services resides within Finance & Administration and reports to Wellington's Chief Financial Officer. The group is composed of three functions: Internal Audit, Operational Risk Management, and Enterprising Sourcing (including 3rd Party Risk Management). Taken collectively, these three functions are responsible for assessing and developing risk mitigation plans which are both functional and geographical in scope. Risk Services has responsibilities for Wellington's offices on Asia, Europe, and North America.

The Position

The Risk Services' Audit and Risk Senior Analyst role is a hybrid role focusing on Internal Audit and Operational Risk Management. The role will reside in London and report to the Director of Operational Risk Management for Asia-Pac and EMEA. The Analyst will also have a dual reporting relationship to the global Director of Internal Audit and work closely with that Boston-based team. The Senior Analyst will focus primarily on internal audit and operational risk issues as they pertain to Asia and Europe. The role is expected to include travel in Asia and Europe.

The Analyst's duties will include, but will not be limited to:

  • Provide strategic insight as we design a risk based audit plan and audit function
  • Implement audit testing plan for the global internal control environment including control advisory consulting
  • Ensure documentation of audit results are in accordance with policy and industry standards
  • Contribute to or lead ORM strategic priorities
  • Redesign global risk and control framework to meet needs of boards, risk committees and business teams
  • Implement enterprise data governance program for pilot data domains
  • Facilitate timely assessment of business impact due to activities, including new clients, products and investors
  • Lead or participate in cross-functional, cross-geographical initiatives designed to assess and mitigate risk
  • Prepare project deliverables: project plans, workflow diagrams, business requirements
  • Focus on analyzing diverse data sets and creating meaningful analysis using various analytical tools
  • Leverage external network to stay informed of best practices
  • Perform business analyst duties on a variety of projects ranging from Brexit to UCITS

  • Minimum 5 years of experience within the asset management industry
  • Proficiency in evaluating and testing internal controls and in applying risk based audit skills
  • BS/BA degree required
  • CIA, CISA, CA, CPA, CFE or similar certifications are a plus
  • Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, to identify, research, and resolve unfamiliar issues
  • Assertive self-starter who can work independently to identify, research and resolve unfamiliar issues
  • Attention to detail and ability to efficiently document intricate business processes
  • A strong interest in global business matters, including the ability to work across cultures
  • Strong interpersonal skills to be able to interact with senior management
