We're looking for a curious and adaptable Senior Data Designer to join the Innovation and Transformation team at M&G who are excited to help us to grow our customers' wealth and improve their world by investing with care. You'll have the opportunity to lead the design and development of wide ranging data initiatives and programmes that help connect our business and drive strategic decisions.
You'll be joining M&G Innovation and Transformation team, helping us shape the future of data-driven decision making across the business. You'll work with many teams across M&G to design data models, to design & build pipelines into reporting and analytics platforms and help migration of legacy data platforms/solutions to new data platforms/solutions. You will also help us to ensure that, with our ever changing business, we are collecting and making use of all data sources as they are released to customers, advisors and colleagues alike.
A key part of the role will be to understand how complex data sources connect across legacy and newly built platforms, to design and deliver complex data models/ETL solutions and to help establish a true Enterprise Data Platform with curated and business optimised views of the data. You will have expertise in designing and delivering data solutions and a strong set of technical skills, specifically around Informatica and Azure technologies.

You should apply to the roles if:
•You have a solid grounding in SQL and Python, and are comfortable using them everyday
•You are an expert in Informatica and Azure technologies, particularly SQL DB, Oracle, Informatica Power Centre, Azure Data Factory and Databricks
•You have experience in building and surfacing data complexities, identifying data quality gaps and data profiling techniques
•You are an expert in processing data and designing pipelines from flat files, databases, APIs and streams
•You have experience in leveraging data visualisation technologies to build narratives, particularly using Qlikview or Power BI

•You have a deep understanding of agile practices such as Scrum and Kanban

•Ideally, you would also have experience in the Asset Management industry and understand the data source complexities

What you'll do
•Work in a multi-disciplinary team to create awesome modern experiences for our staff and clients using a variety of on premise and cloud based technologies including:
•Designing data models that take data from various parts of the business in many different formats including:
•Microsoft SQL Server & Oracle Databases
•Salesforce
•REST APIs
•Flat files
•Data streams
• Designing and developing ETL routines transforming, enriching and surfacing that data to the business though developing visualisations and APIs using:
•Python
•Informatica
•SQL
•PowerBI/Qlikview
•Azure stack
•Work with various teams to design and build solutions and be accountable for the quality of the designs delivered by the team
•Ensure designs are aligned to the strategic architecture
•Ensure that the logical data model and data placement strategy fit with the corporate data model
•Ensure that non functional requirements are achievable and that the solution design can deliver
•Ensure designs meet agreed business requirements
•Enable Continuous Integration and Deployment pipelines for the processes and products you have designed/built using Azure DevOps
•Coach the team to raise their skills and knowledge
•Lead by example with a continual focus on improving your designing skills and practices
