We have a vacancy within one of our London teams for a Senior Developer/ Technical analyst to work on a multi year programme that seeks to implement a re architected strategic solution for securities trades processing and settlements platforms.

You will be a senior developer within one of the London teams across functional agile delivery teams. You will specify, develop and test solutions primarily using Scala. We favour a test-driven development approach, making heavy use of behaviour-driven development techniques and a rigorous software development lifecycle with strong emphasis on continuous integration.You will have a proven background in all stages of the software delivery lifecycle, and recent experience of working with agile methods, for example Scrum or Kanban. You will have expertise in the JVM-based ecosystem and experience with object-oriented design and functional programming principles. Above all else you will champion the delivery of exceptional quality software, adhering to the ideals of software craftsmanship, and eagerly share the benefit of your knowledge with less experienced team members.

responsibilities:

  • Work in an agile feature team of between 5-7 people, running your own routines
  • Work with product owners who may come from business or technology backgrounds, and also communicate with programmers and the end business users to ensure requirements are being met
  • Build backloads of work and manage this workload
  • Work with architects to discuss design patterns and procedures and then put these plans into place to build from scratch
  • Work on proof concepts and use Hadoop with the aim of tackling Big Data project objectives
  • Design software to be used and manage the implementation of this software

    Skills:
  • educated to degree level or equivalent
  • A demonstrated ability to work with both technology and business users to gather requirements and design and implement solutions. The successful candidate will need to be able to demonstrate their contribution, from inception to delivery, on a number of successful implementations
  • A background in JVM-based languages, preferably Scala. Extensive experience in other OO/functional languages would be considered if you can demonstrate the desire to cross train
  • Experience of modelling and handling data at large scale
  • Experienced in using design patterns and following recognised software engineering best practices
  • A passion for a test driven approach to delivery and an expertise with TDD frameworks (JUnit, Scalatest), and ideally BDD frameworks such as Cucumber
  • understanding of agile delivery techniques and to be able to articulate what you bring to a cross functional agile feature team
  • Proficient written and verbal communication skills to clearly articulate technical designs and concepts
