Situated in Head Office London, the Group Corporate Development (GCD) team reports to the Group Finance Director as part of the Group Strategy, Investor Relations and Corporate Venturing division. GCD is the in-house corporate development team and centre of excellent for all "M&A" activity working across the Group. The term M&A refers to Mergers, Acquisitions and Disposal of Group assets or businesses and Joint Venture / Corporate Venture opportunities across the Group.
Working collaboratively across the Group under direction from the Board and Group Executive Committee we are responsible for executing M&A transaction. In addition, the team takes a lead in shaping thinking and developing future strategy for the Group, supporting the work of the other central functions in the division.
The team has an opening for a Transaction Director reporting to the GCD Director. The role is based in central London, but may require occasional travel. It offers a chance to work on some of the most important strategic initiatives facing the Group, giving exposure to strategy development, execution of M&A transaction and supporting management activities. The role offers a high level of exposure to senior executives, including working closely with Group Strategy team, giving excellent opportunities for future career development.
The team comprises people from a wide variety of backgrounds all within the FIG M&A talent pools and has an excellent track record of helping talented individuals accelerate their career progress through working on high profile initiatives that are central to the Group's strategic challenges and opportunities.
Your role will be to Lead key projects, ensuring high quality thinking, expert financial analysis and corporate finance knowledge and stakeholder management. This means you will lead M&A projects and advisory teams overseeing the end to end process of M&A transaction and partner with senior executives. You'll need to have technical M&A and Corporate Finance experience and an excellent understanding of the Financial Services Sector. Combined with your technical knowledge and skills, you'll be a great communicator and business partner.
Someone that can see the bigger picture and think commercially, you'll take ownership to develop the relationship with the business and work collaboratively with them to drive, question and gain knowledge of the business area and strategic objectives.
- Advise and assist Executives on M&A related projects across the Group.
- Maintain relevant knowledge of business areas so that the context can be given to business strategies and market developments.
- Provide oversight and lead the execution of approved M&A related projects end to end.
- Work closely with external advisers on matters of strategy and on M&A and disposal transactions.
- Lead, motivate, develop and coach team members as required so that their individual and collective performance meets current and future needs of the business.
- A proven track record in leading M&A transaction in financial services.
- Experience of working in FIG M&A banking or a Corporate Development team.
- Expert M&A knowledge to provide direction on relevant projects across the business.
- Operating and influencing in a complex and diverse stakeholder environment across all levels of seniority.
- Expert knowledge on financial modeling and analysis techniques and tools.
- Excellent written presentation and oral skills with a talent for turning complex management information into brief, relevant and engaging formats.
