A leading Buy Side firm is looking to add a senior, well established Macro economist to lead their thematic research team in London which will provide analysis of how climate change and potential policy responses impact both emerging and developed economies around the world and to consider how financial markets will respond. The team will be tasked with researching and producing outstanding thematic reports to educate and enhance the firm’s and its clients understanding on the economics and financial implications of climate change.

Your experience should enable you to prepare estimates of the impacts of climate change over the next 10-20 years on the macroeconomic outturns of developed and emerging economies.

You will be expected to expected to demonstrate a broad understanding of how the structural aspects of economies, government policies and financial markets may be affected by climate change, carbon markets or decarbonization policy.


In order to apply you should have:

  • A deep understanding of structural Economics
  • Solid econometric capabilities – programming in Python preferred
  • Some experience looking at Markets affected by changes in climate/weather.
  • An MSC/PHD from a leading school.
  • Central banking experience preferred.
  • A strong understanding of government policy on climate change
  • Experience managing a team focused on economic, monetary policy and financial market analysis. 

 

 

This is a senior position and therefore requires an individual with over 10-15 years working as a macro economist and leading a team.

A strong understanding of climate change policy is essential as you will be tasked with translating policy predictions into projections and implications for financial markets under various policy scenarios in collaboration with your team of economists and portfolio managers.
