Production of risk reporting disclosures, co-ordination of Bank Of England Stress testing requests, as well as review and oversight of FINREP disclosures.
We are looking for an experienced, outgoing and highly motivated Financial Accountant with experience of delivering automation and process improvement initiatives in a business-as-usual reporting environment. You will also be involved in the production of risk reporting disclosures, co-ordination of Bank Of England Stress testing requests, as well as review and oversight of FINREP disclosures.
As a team member of the Group Financial reporting team, you will work closely with stakeholders around the globe including Finance teams in Singapore, Hong Kong and Chennai as well other colleagues in Risk and Compliance. You will play a key role in improving our business processes and managing our stakeholders so we can deliver timely and accurate reporting of the Bank's quarterly results.
This is also an exciting opportunity to move into a Group function and get a good insight as to how a major Bank operates.
The Financial Reporting team (based in London) within Group finance is responsible for:
Producing and analysing the Group's Annual and Interim statutory external financial reporting requirements and contributing to the quarterly Interim Management Statement process. This includes providing insightful, business-led analytical review of the financial data provided to senior management.
Ensuring the Group is prepared for changes in financial reporting by leading the implementation of new IFRSs and accounting policies, working closely with the Accounting Policy team.
Preparation of procedures and policies to be followed by country finance teams within the Group for IFRS reporting.
Acting as the review and challenge over the financial reporting process and numbers to ensure high levels of control are maintained at all times.
Reporting to Head, Group Financial Reporting, the purpose of the role is to:
Support external Standard Chartered statutory IFRS quarterly reporting with primary responsibility for the preparation of Financial Instrument disclosures of the Group SC PLC Half Year and Annual report and Accounts and related preliminary external market results announcements
Actively develop a culture of continuous improvement by reviewing processes, procedures and requirements, on a regular basis, to identify areas for improvement and drive through the necessary changes
Assist with preparation of risk reporting disclosures and other notes to the accounts
Obtain an understanding of the Standard Chartered business areas for P&L and Balance Sheet reporting through production of guidance notes and analytical review of country submissions
Ensure Group reporting deadlines are met and the output of the information is timely, reliable and informative
Ensure Country submissions are accurate by reviewing country submissions and raising queries (in conjunction with offshore financial reporting team based in Chennai)
Production of Financial Reporting Analytical Review packs (FRAPA) for Senior Management
Contribute to the production of papers for the Board, Audit and Risk Committees which support results announcements
Assess new financial reporting requirements under IFRS which impact external disclosures and work with the Technical Accounting Policy team on their implementation
Have oversight and provide guidance on the procedures and policies to be followed by country finance teams within the Group for IFRS reporting
Liaison and provision of support to Group functions (e.g. Group Tax, Group Treasury, and Regulatory Reporting) as necessary
Liaise with external auditors to support the resolution of accounting and reporting issues faced by countries and completion of Group audit process

· Establish strong working relationships with Country Finance teams across the network and provision of support and guidance for IFRS reporting requirements
· Provide subject matter expertise to Country Finance and other Group Finance teams by keeping up to date with subject matter knowledge and best practice
· Build a strong working relationship with external auditors KPMG
· Ensure that the integrity of the financial data remains within the highest standard, by ensuring that adequate financial and process controls in place
· Ensure that the Operational Risk Framework is adhered to for financial reporting processes
· Ensure that country finance teams adhere to procedures and policies within the Group for IFRS reporting
