Fitch Solutions are looking for a Senior Software Engineer, based in London, with an appetite to break several aspects of a legacy (Perl) platform to fit with our more recently implemented service architecture, maintained mostly in java and node. Maintaining, rewriting and prototyping ideas into PoCs should come as easily to this developer as the maturing of those concepts into products/services/enhancements using agile methods.

 

We are focused on building systems from the best and newest technologies and so we expect our developers to come up with original ideas to help push the company forward using the best suited, most reliable technology for the job. If you have an interest in modern tech such as AWS EC2/S3/SQS/SNS/etc, Kubernetes, Kafka, Solr, Datadog, Atlassian Bamboo/Jira/Confluence/etc then please consider this role.

 

The developer we're looking for is as positive as they are pragmatic, and will be expected to demonstrate the following traits:
  • Passionate about new technologies and methods (essential)
  • Server side Perl and Java development experience to a high level (essential)
  • Passionate about building high quality code (essential)
  • JavaScript experience with HTML5, Java Spring, Vue.js
  • Knowledge of Spring Boot (essential)
  • Has worked with JSON and knows how to build APIs (desirable)
  • Appreciation of best practises such as agile, unit testing, documenting (essential)

 

Preferred
  • Node / mySql experience
  • Appreciation of algorithms and data structures
  • Appreciation of architecture
