The Position
Our Information Technology team is recruiting for a Senior Systems Analyst to be based in London. This person will provide 1st to 3rd line desktop support, 1st line application support and assistance to approximately 340 London based users as well as assist in supporting other global offices as part of a global IT team. Users will vary from Investors to operational business professionals.  In addition, this person will provide general infrastructure support to ensure the smooth running of the infrastructure technology platforms across Europe.

The role requires a high level of interaction with business and technical groups to proactively address the desktop needs of users to ensure quick and efficient resolution of any problems, resolve application issues, handle high stress situations involving problem diagnosis and stakeholder relationship management, and possess strong ability to complete tasks and projects and have the desire to find ways to do so.

The wider Europe IT Services Team is responsible for providing first to third line desktop support, first line application support, desktop engineering, network and security support, as well as general infrastructure support to all of the users in our offices in London, Frankfurt, Luxembourg and Europe.  The team is user facing and plays a significant role in ensuring that our users are able to conduct their business in a timely manner.
Responsibilities for this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Providing support for all aspects of the desktop & infrastructure environments, including hardware/software installations, AV technology, changes and configurations
  • Working directly with end users and other technology teams  to troubleshoot and diagnose desktop issues
  • Ensure all issues are logged appropriately and escalated as necessary using the Incident and Problem management process
  • Communicate clearly  with clients to ensure they are kept up to date this progress on open issues, and follow-up on all open and pending issues
  • Escalate issues to the wider support teams, vendors and team leads as necessary
  • Identify persistent problems, and work with wider teams  to resolve
  • Provide training on application /desktop usage and best practices
  • Look for service improvement and ticket reduction opportunities
  • Ensure controls and policies are adhered to at all times

Qualifications & Experience
  • Substantial experience fault finding in complex system and network infrastructures
  • Detailed knowledge of Windows 7 / Windows 10 desktop operating systems with the ability to carry out root cause analysis
  • Detailed knowledge of Microsoft Office and Exchange
  • Experience of supporting Printing Services both Desktop and Centralised
  • Understanding of desktop deployment and maintenance such as imaging, patching, etc
  • Strong technical grasp of strategic platforms such as Microsoft, Networks and Security, WAN, LAN, Exchange
  • Experience in supporting Unified Communications systems such as Microsoft Lync/Skype for Business
  • Good Knowledge of Active Directory/Group Policy/DHCP
  • Solid networking knowledge, including LANs, WANs, Routers, VLANs, VPNs, Wi-Fi
  • Experience of market data feeds and troubleshooting Excel Add-ins.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of industry best practise and standards in an ITIL-based organisation.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Collaborative, self-starter with the ability to manage multiple, changing priorities in a fast-paced and global oriented team.
  • Scripting or basic programming knowledge (PowerShell, Python) desirable
