An international pharmaceutical business are looking for a Senior VAT Manager to join their London office.

As a Senior VAT Manager, you will be working for a global pharmaceutical business in their London office, dealing with all compliance and advisory matters in relation to the supply chain as well as other areas including direct tax, global trade/customs and transfer pricing.

Key responsibilities:

Business Partnering:

  • Evaluate and advise on the tax impact for supply chain projects and provide ad hoc advisories
  • Represent the tax team in the global trade compliance forum
  • Business partner with country finance and international accounting team
  • Prepare and maintain summary of tax positions for each legal entities and brief internal stakeholders on significant topics

Indirect Taxes Advisory:

  • Support indirect tax compliance team on technical queries
  • Support in responding to indirect tax enquiries and audits from tax authorities
  • Co-ordinate VAT refunds and claims
  • Work with the team to mitigate risks for the region

Direct Taxes Advisory:

  • Support direct tax compliance team on technical queries
  • Documentation key tax positions
  • Support business with intercompany queries

Strategic responsibilities:

  • The role is to advise the business on different projects, and help drive visibility and understanding of taxes within the business to lift the strategic focus
  • Build a partnership of trust and open communication between International Finance Shared Service team, Corporate Tax team, International management, and US corporate stakeholders
  • Stay up to date with key developments and policy change and ensure a good understanding of the relevance of legislative changes on the company
  • Participation in other ad-hoc accounting projects as required

Education, Skills and Experience:

  • Qualified Accountant or tax professional (ACA/CTA/ACCA)
  • Bachelor degree preferred
  • Professional practice background, ideally in Big 4 and in-house multi-national experience
  • Strong experience an indirect tax advisory role or similar generalist tax role covering all taxes
  • Established record in managing multiple and competing priorities
  • Experience working in US multi-nationals beneficial
  • Strong working knowledge of excel
