What you'll do
In your new role, you'll be working within a feature team to engineer software, scripts and tools, as well as liaising with other engineers, architects and business analysts across the platform.
You'll also be:
- Producing complex and critical software rapidly and of high quality which adds value to the business
- Working in permanent teams who are responsible for the full life cycle, from initial development, through enhancement and maintenance to replacement or decommissioning
- Collaborating to optimise our software engineering capability
- Designing, producing, testing and implementing our working software solutions
- Working across the life cycle, from requirements analysis and design, through coding to testing, deployment and operations
The skills you'll need
We're looking for someone with full-stack experience in software design and implementation, including the ability to use programming languages to solve complex problems. You'll be capable of analysing, capturing and validating complex business and system requirements and translating them into effective software solutions. You'll also bring strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to tackle complex technical challenges.
Additionally, you'll demonstrate:
- Knowledge of Java, Spring Boot, Kafka and MongoDB expertise is not essential but would be hugely beneficial, specifically around how these technologies can be applied to deliver high-quality software solutions
- Confidence using development, testing and defect management tools, alongside collaboration platforms such as wikis
- The ability to work across multiple programming languages or low-code platforms, selecting the right tools for the task
- A strong understanding of Agile, DevOps and testing practices, contributing throughout the software development lifecycle
- A commitment to engineering best practice, including scalability, automation, virtualisation, optimisation, availability and performance
