The successful candidate will provide high quality technology solutions that address IHS Markit's Pricing business needs by working with teams of application and web developers (in multiple global locations), business analysts and business stakeholders. The candidate should have significant experience in designing and developing end-to-end solutions using a modern enterprise technology stack.

The IHS Markit Pricing business is investing in building an ecosystem of services in AWS to support multiple asset classes and pricing methodologies. The role will actively contribute to the design, validation and delivery of the target platform architecture; as well as supporting the migration of the 'legacy' applications onto the new platform. The candidate should be comfortable in a fast paced environment and be flexible to adapt to change.

Duties & accountabilities

Candidate needs to:

  • Work closely with Product stakeholders and highlight issues and risks proactively. Meet with project teams regularly to review project deliverables and deadlines.
  • Perform management activities like interviews, training, mentoring etc.
  • Be delivery focussed. Participate in agile product development through all SDLC phases.
  • Analyse business requirements, design, implement and test features. Understand non-functional requirements like performance, scalability etc.
  • Be a lead in system architecture and design discussions. Have a passion for technology and offer new ideas and approaches. Recommend product, process, and tooling improvements.
  • Perform hands-on development and build high-quality, reusable code, libraries and services for future use in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Enforce quality standards including: code conventions, code reviews, unit testing, static analysis and revision control. Coordinate with quality assurance staff for product functional and system testing.
  • Maintain and support all areas of the applications.
  • Work under the general supervision of the Development Manager and take direction from other Team Leads within the organization where required.

Education and experience
  • Strong technical and platform knowledge, including some or all of:

Must Have
  • Strong enterprise Java (8/9 desirable)
  • Thorough understanding of agile software development methodology and industry best practices.
  • Expertise in fundamental software engineering and computer science principles: object-oriented design, functional programming, structured design, databases (including SQL), algorithms, data structures, usability, refactoring, debugging, and configuration management.
  • Thorough understanding of the various database flavours and their use cases
  • Excellent design and problem solving skills and disciplined, engineering oriented mind set.
  • Experience with microservices architectures with both synchronous and asynchronous service coordination; or experience with cloud based managed services and serverless architectures
  • Source Control expertise (preferably Git)
  • Good degree in Computer Science or a related field.

  • Experience with Continuous Integration and build systems

Commercial awareness
  • Knowledge of Fixed Income Pricing and/or Financial Sector is advantageous

Management requirements
  • Dynamic and flexible with the ability to motivate others. Previous Line Management experience is desirable.
  • Must be hands on with the technical ability to challenge and improve the work of others
  • Proven track record of delivering solutions to a deadline that meet business needs.
