Software Engineering Lead - Exec Director - Cross-Asset Derivs for Asset Management

Asset Management has embarked on a major multi-year initiative to dramatically enhance our derivatives capabilities end-to-end. This effort is of the highest strategic importance to the firm. Asset Management Technology is seeking an individual to lead all technology aspects of this initiative, partnering with their NY counterpart. This high profile role demands an experienced leader that has the right mix of technical skills, requisite business knowledge, and soft skills. The ideal candidate is a hands-on developer (or was recently so), has spent a significant portion of their career in the derivatives space, be highly collaborative, and driven to getting things done. This role will sit in London, with regular travel to New York required.

Responsibilities include:

  • Designing the overall end-state technical architecture and a phased approach to reaching that state
  • Leading teams developing new functionality and integrating existing internal platforms
  • Managing the full Software Delivery Lifecycle including coding, testing, deployment, and support, in a DevOps environment
  • Working directly with end users to understand requirements, roll out functionality, and collect feedback
  • Building and developing and extraordinary team of technologist, serving as personnel manager
  • Coordinating, collaborating with, and influencing the activities of other teams contributing to the derivatives effort

To To be succesful in this role, you will have...
  • 12+ years of experiences leading technology development (3+ years at the Executive Director level)
  • 5+ years of multi-site team management experience
  • Essential skills include being able to demonstrable experience of successfully running large-scale multi-year initiatives end-to-end
  • Deep and broad technology expertise in application, data and infrastructure architecture disciplines, with current experience of Python and Java, SQL & NoSQL databases and their applicable use-cases, reactive and/or complex event processing, functional and/or graph-oriented programming, and modern user-interface development with HTML/JavaScript
  • Excellent knowledge of listed and OTC derivatives asset classes, across equities, rates, credit, and FX markets. Understanding of derivative pricing, order and execution management through to trade and life cycle management, Middle Office flows or processes and other operational concerns, coupled with derivative risk analytics is highly sought after
  • Deep understanding of Asset Management and the investment management process is strongly preferred
  • Previous experience with J.P. Morgan's Athena platform, or similar, is strongly preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, being able to converse equally well across all levels of the organization
  • Strong user experience focus and experience soliciting user requirements and feedback
