This role is primarily working within Group Technology Change programmes.
Emerald Programme
The Emerald programme is the Cyber Resilience and IT Resilience & Disaster Recovery work stream
which has a BAU capability and is also a multi-year project that was started in 2019.
The programme is looking at the full end to end capability and continued maturity of Cyber Resilience
and IT resilience and Disaster Recovery to meet L&G best practice and PRA, FCA guidelines for L&G
businesses across Hosted locations, Cloud(s), network voice and data.
Group Real Estate IT (GRE)
Responsible for all technical requirements from design to implementation coming from GRE, this has
major programme of works over multiple years, including new L&G locations, moves, changes,
updates for buildings etc.
Principal Accountabilities
To take responsibility for the IT Solution Designer of the above programmes, providing hands on architecture and design services to meet the changing requirements of the business divisions.
Primary accountable for being the lead designer for Cyber Recovery capabilities with On Prem and Cloud solutions.
Working with the other elements of the enterprise architecture team to ensure business and application architecture are designed to their optimum to meet the needs of change programmes and provide thought leadership on the future direction of the IT infrastructure strategy.
Provide architecture support to strategic IT change projects, ensuring that IT solutions support the objectives of simplifying the IT landscape and reducing total cost of ownership whilst delivering business value.
Utilise expert technical knowledge of Solution Designer and design techniques and tools to support the creation of infrastructures to support the business strategies and ensure robust and innovative design of Solutions.
Actively participate and direct the conception, planning and design of the programmes strategic infrastructure estate to ensure that initiatives are impacted and where appropriate conflict or compromises are escalated to ensure the alignment with the business & IT strategies.
Define, establish and maintain a complete, accurate and reliable repository of all Solution Designer designs to support the evaluation, definition and design of new solutions to meet the strategic needs of the IT change programmes
Work with internal IT teams, procurement and IT outsourcing partners to implement robust
architecture governance processes which will ensure that infrastructure solutions meet functional and non-functional requirements and comply with Group Technology architecture principles, standards and policies.
Work with internal and external bodies to maintain an up to date view of the emerging infrastructure technologies so that they can be exploited to support the future direction and requirements of the Group Technology.
Work with senior client/user management to define technology strategies, drawing up design artefacts, conducting feasibility studies, producing high level and detailed infrastructure solutions, which will have a measurable impact on the profitability and effectiveness of the requirements.
Deliver effective communication to influence and maintain positive working relationships with all interested parties including stakeholders and divisional directors, managed service providers, and external suppliers to support effective decision-making in relation to strategic Solution Designer decisions.
Comply with agreed methodology, standards, policies and procedures to ensure strong governance, sharing knowledge and providing feedback and ideas so that performance is continually improved.
Define, develop and deliver processes and systems to ensure a consistent and good level of service that means customers' expectations are met, is consistent with what we have communicated and is aligned to L&G's Customer Experience and Treating Customers Fairly policy.
