EY's Audit business within Assurance serves the public interest and helps give confidence to the capital markets.

EY's Professional Practice Directorate (PPD) supports our audit professionals to successfully navigate the changing regulatory environment and consistently deliver the highest quality audits.

The opportunity

The PPD team is looking for a technology and business process specialist to optimise and automate how this support is delivered to audit teams. This will free up time so that other team members can focus on emerging risks and partnering with the business to help with Audit Transformation activities.

A typical day probably doesn't exist, but if it did, it would involve talking to PPD colleagues to help qualify processes that have could be less manual, mapping these processes, and agreeing how technology could be used to increase automation. You will then lead or help build the solutions, test them, implement them and support their ongoing provision. You'll use a variety of tools ranging from Robotic Process Automation (RPA) to scripting.

All the work is prioritised by experienced PPD colleagues to make sure you are focussed on the right projects and delivering impact. You'll also benefit from learning, development and peer group alignment to EY's Data Analytics team and our Technology Career Pathways, including technical oversight from a Solutions Architect within this team and structured learning though our series of automation and analytics skills, delivered through EY Badges.

Your key responsibilities

After induction and on-boarding you'll be assigned a backlog of process automation opportunities to work on. You will then be responsible for:

- Owning deliverables through their lifecycle, with a mix of building new automation solutions and maintaining existing solutions.

- Communicating with stakeholders and managers to handle issues and changes in timelines.

- Devising cunning technical solutions to requests and problems, then knowledge sharing these across our team of Solution Developers.

- Identifying opportunities to make our work, more efficient or effective. Bringing innovative ideas to the leadership team for investment assessment.

- Doing all those things that a professional should, like thinking about data security, archiving, and quality.

To qualify for the role you must have

- A willingness to learn, to work outside your comfort zone, achieving a common goal, supported by a team with diverse backgrounds across a range of geographies

- Evidence of a logical and detailed oriented mind, able to support our quality agenda and compliance requirements

- Experience owning deliverables, and performing detailed self-review of work

- Business process design or continuous improvement experience

- Proven ability using technology and analytics to design and implement RPA solutions

- Great written and verbal communication, presentation and client service

- Strong team player with a solution focused attitude

- Ability to juggle multiple conflicting deadlines

- Flexibility to travel and work in other locations

- Considered a master user of Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint

Ideally you'll also have a few of the following:

- Experience working with complex financial or transactional data.

- RPA experience using tools such as Blue Prism, UI Path or Automation Anywhere

- Familiarity with LEAN or Six Sigma concepts

- Data transformation and wrangling tools ranging from SSIS, through to Talend and Alteryx

- Building visualizations in tools like Spotfire, Tableau, or even D3JS

- Experience writing code in languages like SQL, Python, R, .NET, Java, VB, ACL, IDEA, VBA

- Experience demonstrating or presenting solutions to internal or external stakeholders
