Senior Analyst, Smart Cities
IHS Markit is seeking a senior analyst to join its smart cities research practice. The successful candidate will be able to apply strong analytical and communication skills to develop a deep understanding of the fast-paced smart cities industry. They will develop customer relations with existing and potential clients, and produce high quality in-depth reports to support the critical business decisions of our customers. The analyst will also be required to do occasional domestic and international travel for research and business development purposes.


  • Conduct primary and secondary research on areas of smart cities services, and market vendors.
  • Produce high-quality and accurate market size, share, and forecast reports with rock-solid methodology for estimating technology adoption and vendor equipment revenue, providing short-term and long-term market analysis, fundamental market drivers, top players and market segment analysis, and product developments
  • Flexibility, with the ability to work effectively and collaboratively with coworkers around the world and able to participate in group interactions with colleagues
  • Produce thought leadership content, and opinion based commentary
  • Support the sales team with business development activities
  • Interface with and support clients subscribing to the service
  • Develop business relationships with vendors in the ecosystem, including equipment manufacturers, system installers/integrators, and developers
  • Identify new research services to address an ever-changing and evolving market
  • Speak at conferences and present key data findings to customers

  • Bachelor's degree in business, economics, statistics, or industry-related fields required
  • Expertise in smart cities
  • Basic understanding of market drivers and trends in the evolving smart cities industry
  • Requires excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex concepts and analysis to clients and internal stakeholders
  • Proficiency with MS applications required (Excel, Word and PowerPoint); experience with databases helpful.
  • Requires a keen attention to detail and highly effective organization skills including the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Well-developed relationship building skills
  • Strong analysis skills and the ability to assess and interpret information
  • Affinity for working on a dynamic team
  • Self-motivation and natural curiosity are essential
