Surveillance Monitoring Analyst

The Opportunity:

This role is within the Surveillance (day to day) Monitoring team, which is responsible for the monitoring of front office dealing and investment controls, rule coding and daily review of the pre and post trade incidents generated by Fidessa Sentinel (automated portfolio compliance monitoring system), covering client, regulatory and house restrictions on around 200 individual Equity, Fixed Income and Multi Asset client funds.

You will be responsible for the following tasks:

* Review of segregated client mandates and retail product documentation, to implement and maintain rule coding on Fidessa Sentinel & Aladdin for client, regulatory and house restrictions.
* Investigation of daily incidents generated by Fidessa Sentinel, to ascertain the reason for any breaches / exceptions (result of trade, data issues etc.).
* Communication with the relevant business areas for breach resolution and breach logging.
* Delivery of coding interpretation covering regulatory / guideline restrictions to the business when required, interacting with fund managers and other front office staff at all levels.
* Completion of routine daily, weekly and monthly monitoring activities.
* Liaise with the Trustee / client relationship managers to respond to breach alerts and portfolio queries as received.
* Creating and maintaining accurate team procedure manuals.
* Breach reporting and production of MI reporting to key stakeholders.
* Ad-hoc project work, for example new fund launches and system upgrades.

It is essential for you to be flexible, proactive and have the ability to work as part of a team. You must be a self-starter with ability to work under your own initiative, with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. It is important for you to have a strong work ethic and to be comfortable working under pressure to tight deadlines. You will have the ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships within the team and across the business.

Good instrument knowledge of fixed income, equities and derivatives products, is highly desirable, as well as a good understanding of the asset management industry. You A good understanding of the UK regulatory framework and UCITS rules will also be helpful, as would a relevant IOC or IMC qualification.
