As a Barclays Sustainability and ESG Manager (Strategy), you will join a team focused on making our growth ‘green’, sustainable and inclusive.
As a key member of our Sustainability & ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) team, you will support the Director and Senior Manager with ESG strategy coordination across the firm. This will include Barclays position and approach across ESG factors by theme, business line and geography.

What will you be doing?
- Supporting the Director and Senior Manager in coordination of overall ESG strategy, including identifying, assessing and tracking our execution objectives across ESG factors
- Supporting the development of frameworks and processes to manage ESG strategy, including consolidated heat maps across issues, key indicators and updates
- Conducting gap analysis and identifying trends across ESG factors, working with thematic leads within the team as well as subject matter experts in the business and functions
- Leading and managing deep competitive insight and analysis of peer and sector best practice, including quantitative and qualitative insights
- Partnering with the rest of the Global Sustainability and ESG team on horizon-scanning, new opportunity identification, strategic partnerships and engagement
- Contributing to analysis of emerging ESG trends and their potential impact on Barclays from an overall ESG credentials and issuer perspective, as well as specific product insights
- Supporting team input for Barclays response to emerging public policy and regulatory initiatives on longer term ESG strategy issues
- Attending external events/conferences/seminars on relevant sustainability topics, to develop contacts and subject matter expertise
What we’re looking for:
- Excellent understanding of strategic ESG issues, including management approaches, frameworks and execution
- Good understanding of ESG trends, and their impact on banks at the corporate level, as well as specific business line impacts
- Strong presentation skills with the ability to explain and discuss results of analyses, to effectively drive fact-based decision making within all levels of the organisation
Skills that will help you in the role:
- Bachelor’s degree in a Sustainability or Business subject, or MBA, would be beneficial
- Demonstrable expertise in ESG strategy gained through working for a bank, investor or rating agency, or strategic consulting experience on ESG factors and implementation
