Job Purpose

ICBC Standard Bank requires a hands-on Technical Lead to help architect, build and maintain our strategic Control IT systems.

You will lead a team of developers and will be required to ensure that project requirements and deadlines are met and that the projects transitions into production happens with minimal impact, whilst also working with the support teams to ensure that any required handover is given.

Keys responsibilities:

  • Working on projects inside the Control IT space. This will involve:
  • Leading a team of developers across different projects
  • Working closely with key business stakeholders to understand their needs and requirements to provide the appropriate strategic and tactical solution
  • Ensuring all business requirements are complete and understood before development takes place
  • Motivating, inspiring and providing technical guidance to the team
  • Taking ownership of deliverables from inception through to production support
  • Solution architecture - ensuring that solutions are designed with production in mind so that issues can be investigated and resolved with minimal intervention
  • Ensuring that current coding standards and best practices are met across the ongoing projects
  • Delivering high quality, testable efficient and robust code that will result in minimal production issues
  • Develop automated build and test packs to minimise manual workPro-actively responding to the demands and challenges of the business, prioritising those solutions/demands and managing expectations of users/customers.
  • Provide analysis and design of new tactical solutions, following development standards and best practices. Identifying and communicating issues and risks to manager as appropriate in a timely manner.

Experience required to successfully perform the role:

  • Experience of working in a regulated environment, ideally Financial Services

Beneficial Knowledge:

  • Good understanding of Compliance, Client Management Lifecycle and Legal business functions
  • Experience of project lifecycle
  • Experience of working closely with and supporting the Business
