Trader, European Equities - Global Investment Management Firm

Our client is a leading global investment management firm with presence across the US, Europe, and Asia. As a result of strategic changes and growth in their Asia business, they are looking to strategically appoint a Trader to join their team in Singapore, with full responsibility and coverage for the European Equities Markets.

The successful candidate will be an integral member of the global equity investment team, with responsibility and discretion for executing trades of stock securities and foreign currencies consistent with the direction set by the portfolio management team.

Working closely with analysts and portfolio managers you will lead the execution of appropriate relative-value trades within portfolio parameters that have been set - with a primary focus on the European markets. These are the key responsibilities

  • Efficient and effective execution of trades in the Euro markets and to ensure all required trade documentation is complete. All trade activities should be performed with efficiency in mind, to ensure an appropriate balance between the best execution and market-imposed time constraints for each trade.
  • Keeping abreast of general economic and financial market trends through the ongoing monitoring of market conditions and sharing of such relevant information with portfolio managers and firm's management. Gain a thorough knowledge of equity securities and their markets, trading characteristics and approaches, and factors influencing price trends. Awareness of all trade-related activities occurring on various stock exchange floors and on various electronic trading systems.
  • Perform other job-related duties or special projects as required. This may include but are not limited to the creation of reports regarding cash generation and other issues for management, ensuring soft dollar, directed and research commission commitments are met and dealing with investment bankers, brokers, and custodial banks regarding securities delivery problems.
  • Proactively develop, foster and maintain strong relationships with a wide network of traders, brokers, and other industry contacts to ensure a constant flow of up-to-the-minute relevant information and to enhance the firm's image in the brokerage community.

The successful candidate should possess the relevant academic qualification required in such a role and possess relevant work experience of executing equities trades in the European markets. You would ideally be someone with a high level of work ethics and be a self starter. A team player, you should also possess strong communication skills with the ability to communication up and down the communication chain. If you possess an additional European language, that will be a plus as you will be dealing with various European markets and brokers.

The role has to be based in Singapore.
