About The Role

Purpose
The Training & Competence Graduate will support the delivery of Training & Competence (T&C) and learning activity across the business, with a particular focus on Private Wealth and our Adviser population.

This is an entry-level development role designed for a graduate who has a keen interest in Adviser Learning & Development, financial services and developing people. Working within the People & Culture team, the role will provide exposure to how we train, develop and assess colleagues working in regulated and client-facing roles.
The role will support the day-to-day operation of the T&C framework, help coordinate and develop training activity, maintain accurate records and MI, and work closely with the T&C Manager, People & Culture, Compliance and Private Wealth teams.

Over time, the role holder will build their knowledge of financial advice, regulatory requirements and competence assessment, with the opportunity to take on greater responsibility as their experience develops.

Responsibilities
Training & Competence Delivery:
• Support the day-to-day administration and delivery of the Training & Competence framework
• Help ensure T&C activities, assessments and actions are completed within agreed timescales
• Support the T&C Manager with the coordination of Adviser and Certified Person competence activity
• Maintain T&C schedules, trackers and records, following up with Advisers and managers where information or actions are outstanding
• Develop an understanding of FCA requirements and how these are applied through the firm's T&C framework
• Support the continuous improvement of T&C processes, materials and ways of working

Training Programs | LRN:
• Help organise training sessions, workshops and development programmes, including invitations, materials, attendance and follow-up activity
• Gather feedback following training and use this to help improve future learning activity
• Support the management and administration of learning through LRN and other learning systems

Competence Assessments:
• Support the T&C Managers with the planning and coordination of competence assessments for Advisers and relevant regulated roles
• Help collate evidence required for competence and certification assessments
• Support the administration of knowledge assessments, CPD reviews, role plays and other competence activity
• Maintain records of assessment outcomes, feedback and agreed actions
• Track development or improvement actions and follow up with Advisers and managers to ensure these are completed

Data Management & Reporting:
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date T&C records, including assessment outcomes, CPD evidence, training records and development actions
• Produce regular MI showing completion rates, outstanding actions and key T&C activity
• Support the T&C Manager in identifying themes and trends from training, assessment and competence data
• Help prepare practical reporting for managers and leadership
• Maintain high standards of data quality and confidentiality across all T&C records

SMCR:
• Support the annual SMCR certification process through the collation and maintenance of competence evidence and T&C records
• Help track outstanding certification requirements and follow up actions
• Develop an understanding of the Senior Managers & Certification Regime and the role T&C plays in demonstrating ongoing competence and fitness and propriety
• Work with People & Culture, Compliance and managers to ensure relevant records are complete and maintained appropriately

Other:

About You

Knowledge
• An interest in Learning & Development, Training & Competence, People/HR or financial services
• An interest in understanding how people learn, develop and build competence
• No previous financial services experience is required, but an interest in developing knowledge of the wealth management and financial advice industry is important
• Willingness to develop an understanding of FCA regulation, Consumer Duty and the principles of Training & Competence
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly PowerPoint, Excel and Word

Qualifications
• Degree or equivalent graduate-level qualification
• Willingness to undertake relevant professional qualifications as part of the role
• An interest in developing a career within Training & Competence, Learning & Development
