Description of Role and Key Responsibilities

Investec is looking for a talented UI/Visual Designer.  This role requires a flexible, experienced designer to create amazing user experiences.  You will join the global digital team to help ensure that we have an excellent online presence.

You should possess superior UI/Visual skills and be able to translate high-level requirements into interaction flows and transform them into beautiful, intuitive and functional user interfaces with the Investec brand.

The UI/Visual Designer will join the UX team to work on the design of Investec’s websites and Apps. Ensuring a distinctive yet consistent brand experience across our key client types, leading the design and experience across online banking, trading, personal financial management, and portfolio management websites and applications.  

Key Responsibilities

  • Design a seamless user experience and interaction design inspired to tackle design challenges on a truly global scale
  • Define best practices and create interaction pattern libraries and tools to share knowledge across teams and businesses
  • Create a unified brand experience across all of Investec’s multichannel touch points
  • Creates prototypes to help user test and get feedback to help develop the ideal design
  • Leverage leadership skills and domain expertise to be a passionate visionary for fantastic customer experiences inside and outside the company
  • Managing internal stakeholders and forging key relationships
  • Being able to multitask, prioritise and work to deadlines under pressure
  • Understanding the commercial objectives and the ambition to contribute to business outcomes

Core Skills and Attributes

Core skills

  • Proven UI/Visual design experience
  • Solid experience in creating wireframes, storyboards, user flows and process flows
  • Solid experience in Sketch, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and other visual design and wire-framing tools
  • Ability to articulate and present thoughts to a non-technical audience
  • Regulatory Knowledge as applicable to role

Technical knowledge

  • Experience of working in a role where there is a focus on Human- Computer Interaction and User Experience
  • Working knowledge of current website design principles and best practice
  • An understanding of legislation/guidelines relating to accessibility/usability (e.g. DDA, W3C)
  • Good copywriting for the web skills preferred
  • Ability to analyse and optimise the online experience using web analytics (e.g. Webtrends/Omniture)
