You and your role

Agile Delivery is about delivering the right outcomes for our users through our product development.

We work with, guide and coach cross-functional teams using agile principles. We work in a challenging and complex domain, developing products and services that touch millions of lives, while also building the foundation for future ways of working across all of government.

As an Agile Delivery Manager you will be accountable for the effective, cross-functional delivery of products using agile/lean techniques.

You should have a good understanding of software development, business operational process design, non-digital artefact design (e.g. paper forms), user research, user experience design and aspects of strategy/policy development. You will apply this to help dynamically organise delivery activities at a detailed level.

You will already be an experienced leader of agile/lean techniques within your team and will be tasked with empowering the team to self-organise effectively to optimise their chances of success. Critically you will be are accountable for setting a good, sustainable delivery pace.

You will apply good agile delivery practice for planning, tracking progress, managing blockers, financial management, scope management, resource management, stakeholder management and governance.

You will be accountable for efficient integration with other (agile or non-agile) delivery teams and departmental governance. You will have experience in delivering projects using a waterfall methodology and be able to identify and compare the best processes or delivery methods to use.

What are we looking for?

  • Excellent experience of planning, team dynamics and collaboration
  • In-depth knowledge of agile and lean practices, effective communication and ability to make the process work
  • Demonstrable experience of maintaining delivery momentum and lifecycle perspective
  • Good grounding in commercial management and financial management
  • Excellent software engineering and product design experience

QUALIFICATIONS AND ACCREDITATION

  • Training in agile techniques.
  • Degree in software engineering (this is not required if you have worked in some capacity with an in-house software development team over most of the development lifecycle OR have good hands- on software development experience).
