Senior Infrastructure Engineer - Security Operations

In DWP Infrastructure Operations Engineers are responsible for our secure and highly available computing platforms, servers, and networks. They, install, maintain, upgrade, and continuously improve an operating environment that ensures we can pay over £195bn per year to the people that need it.

You will also maintain the ongoing reliability, performance and support of the infrastructure, including monitoring operating environments, responding to incidents, troubleshooting user problems and planning for growth.

You will work in the Hybrid Cloud Services Security Operations team, supporting the delivery of Security related Projects and Initiatives. You'll help us develop the right processes and approach required for proactive management of Hybrid Cloud Services Hosting Solutions.

You'll need to be a skilled practitioner and a role model in Hybrid Cloud Hosting Security solutions. You'll use your expertise to advocate best practice across the department and to guide teams on how to deliver quality Hybrid Cloud Hosting products.

You will work with architects and engineers in the design and operation of secure Hosting services, with a focus on operational stability, robustness, resilience, availability and quality.

What skills, knowledge and experience will you need?

  • Information Security: You have an appreciation of information security, designing solutions and services with security controls embedded, specifically engineered as mitigation against security threats as core part of the solutions and services.
  • Technical Breadth: You have a deep understanding of the technical concepts required in their role and understands how these fit into the wider technical landscape. You understand the limitations of digital technology.
  • Test Analysis: You think outside the box, ask the right questions and critically evaluate and communicate findings to a larger team. You can lead investigative work into problems and opportunities in existing processes, driving the collection of information and creation of recommendations for improvements. And you can absorb large amounts of conflicting information and use it to determine solutions.
  • IT Infrastructure: You design, implement, administer and support Hybrid Cloud Hosting Security products and services, ensuring adherence to Hybrid Cloud Services and Digital Security Standards and Architectural Principles.
