The opportunity

The role is within the ACR team which sits as part of EY's Newcastle Managed Services Centre.

In this role, excellent delivery and exceptional client service are standard expectations. You will find yourself leading projects, owning key deliverables and driving business development opportunities, whilst also being involved in the mentoring, coaching and development of more junior members of the team.

Managed Services is one of our fastest growing areas and we recently opened a modern new office in Newcastle City Centre. Our rapid expansion means we are looking for a Senior Manager.

What is the ACR team?

The ACR team is a growing part of EY's Newcastle Managed Services Centre of Excellence. Our focus is on the provision of "finance function and reporting support" to a broad portfolio of clients across different sectors. That reporting support includes:

- Statutory accounting (UKGAAP and IFRS)

- Management reporting

- Bookkeeping

- Reconciliations support

- Regulatory reporting

- Treasury

- Payroll

- iXBRL and XBRL reporting

As the team is growing at pace, the working environment is very dynamic and can change from day to day. We want to employ a Senior Manager who has experience of working flexibly and will thrive in this setting, reacting to the changing needs of our team and our clients. In addition to the Newcastle base, the team has a number of members who sit in other EY offices in the UK.

Your key responsibilities

- Provide exceptional client service, ensuring deliverables are quality focused and delivered on a timely basis

- Understand, follow and implement workplace policies and procedures and be able to provide challenge to ensure process improvement and efficiency

- Develop and maintain productive working relationships with client personnel, whilst building strong internal relationships

- Build and manage high-performance teams, utilising diverse skills and backgrounds towards client needs

- Lead and participate in multiple engagement teams

- Understand the client's industry and recognise key performance drivers, business trends and industry developments

- Oversee progress, minimise risk and ensure key stakeholders are kept informed about progress and expected outcomes

- Manage expectations of client service delivery

- Maintain client confidentiality and ensure data security at all times

- Contribute to people initiatives including training, staff welfare etc.

Skills and attributes for success

- Very strong technical accounting and financial reporting skills

- Assertive and proactive approach to the delivery / implementation of client engagements

- Strong communication skills with the ability to motivate a team; manage, mentor and train junior staff and work with people from across the business.

- Ability to network effectively within large organisations and build relationships with individuals and clients

- Ability to lead teams

- Ability to demonstrate expertise and in-depth technical capabilities in most (if not all) of the services provided by the ACR team (see list above)

- Ability to build and maintain strong client relationships

- Effective time management skills and the ability to remain calm when meeting multiple deadlines

- A desire to take on responsibility.

To qualify for the role you will have

- ACA / CA / ACCA qualification or equivalent

- 10+ years relevant work experience

- Hands-on experience of IFRS, UK GAAP and/or US GAAP gained within the reporting arena

Ideally, you'll also have

- Flexible working attitude and a willingness to travel if required (which it won't be very often)

- Big4 or mid-tier practice experience

- Financial Services experience
