What we’re building  

We now need a Senior Internal Auditor to support the transformation and the future growth of the business within the Internal Audit function, so it can provide impactful global and regional insights to the business, through the performance of global and thematic audits as well as targeted local audits.


Job summary

To provide independent assurance to the Audit Committee(s) of the Board and the senior Executive team that significant risks are being effectively managed and controlled. To influence change towards an optimal control structure by identifying risk management opportunities within existing and proposed business functions and systems

What you’ll do
 

  • Conduct/manage allocated audits for CLG and its subsidiaries to the required quality and efficiency standards as set by the relevant professional bodies and regulators (IIA, OSFI, FSA and internal corporate governance).  This will involve regular contact with external bodies/user groups so as to ensure that we are aware of and apply best practice audit techniques.
  • Follow up on previously reported issues to ensure that corrective action has been taken.
  • Act as a consultant on major projects to ensure that project controls/business controls are adequate and the delivery of business benefit.
  • Promote best practice throughout the organisation with regard to internal control, risk management and control self assessment and corporate governance to ensure that best practice standards are met.
  • Provide control consulting advice to the business in response to ad hoc requests for assistance in order to assist management to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of controls and procedures.
  • Undertake and complete special projects and fraud investigations at the request of the Head of Internal Audit to ensure that any potential exposures are minimised.
  • Complete assigned reviews with regard to the external auditors’ work plan to the required standards.
  • Provide the Head of Internal Audit with support re the management/administration of the function so as to meet the functional objectives.

 
Who you are

  • Qualified accountant / auditor
  • Experience of undertaking corporate governance, strategic and other high level audit reviews
  • Ideally Financial Services and Life Assurance industry experience gained through a professional audit office or by employment therein
  • Knowledge of Open Pages, SAP and CLOAS policy system would be beneficial
  • Ability to work under pressure within a team and individually and to take responsibility for ensuring deadlines are met
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and liaising with internal and external customers to promote positive change.
  • Flexible approach to auditing and ability to influence senior people but also build relationships with senior management.
  • Ability to produce clear and concise written reports for internal customers outlining findings and recommendations
  • Accounting audit qualification essential e.g. ACA, ACCA, CIIA.
