This is a great opportunity to join Fundhouse, an award winning financial services firm based in Reigate, Surrey. The role will involve providing operational and administrative support to the investment team and working directly with them and their clients. The role is a diverse role suited to an organised and process driven candidate who has an interest in the investment industry. It will be helpful if you have good Excel and VBA knowledge.

This role is the first operational role that we are hiring for. We are a team of six investment people, based in Reigate and we are looking for operational support for both the investment team and our clients. Although the role is operational and involves administration, there will also be scope for the candidate to automate existing processes and to project manage the investment process and any changes to client portfolios. This is why Excel skills are important, because the candidate can quickly automate processes if they have the requisite technical ability. You will also work very closely with everyone on the team, including the founder, and that is important. It is very much a family atmosphere at Fundhouse and we help eachother on everything. Knowledge and experience of the fund management industry will be helpful. We work closely with many fund management firms and there are many technical aspects (and jargon) that come up day-to-day.

Specifically, the role is operational and involves administration skills (and to some degree investment understanding, project management and, at times, process enhancement skills).  The role will involve regular oversight of client positions and the investigation of errors/discrepancies when applicable. Additionally, the person will be required to implement and record portfolio restructures/rebalances, and to ensure that performance tracking mirrors the adjustments. The successful candidate will also help collate data pertaining to underlying third-party funds and ensure the accuracy and consistency of portfolio and performance data for use in external client reporting. They will also be expected to identify, log and escalate any breaches of tolerance levels as they pertain to asset class and fund exposures. There is also a client dimension to the role. As the person dealing with portfolios day-to-day, you will likely need to speak to clients about portfolios as well as working on the reporting that is sent to them.

As mentioned, the candidate will be expected to enhance aspects of the existing framework, where necessary. This will include the automation of portfolio tolerance checks, data capture for model fund restructures and client position reconciliation.

Specific roles include:

  • Weekly reconciliation of client holdings
  • Investigation of inconsistencies in client positions
  • Formal oversight and tracking of electronic trading receipts
  • Model fund performance and attribution tracking
  • Implementation of portfolio restructures into the proprietary system
  • Collation and aggregation of underlying external fund exposures
  • Ensure 3rd party fund information is up-to-date 
  • Engage in widespread process enhancements and automation

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Financial services experience would be preferred

  • Ideally proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel would be helpful, such as:
    • Advanced formula techniques such as the use of arrays
    • Advanced, dynamic lookup functions
    • Data cleansing techniques
    • Experience with pivot tables & spreadsheet design
    • Experience with VBA
