Fundhouse is a unique, progressive firm with broad based employee ownership. We do fund research very differently to others and are looking for a high calibre fund analyst who thinks scientifically, driven by evidence and who will sit alongside senior fund analysts and develop into a senior fund analyst themselves. Knowledge of UK funds is useful and some investment experience is important. The role is based in Reigate, Surrey. It would be helpful if you could motivate to us, why you want to work at Fundhouse in this role.

Fundhouse ( is based in Reigate, Surrey and is 10 years old.  We are looking for a driven, analytical candidate who ideally has some experience with UK fund and manager research and who prefers being inside a fairly small team (6) that thinks differently to others.  The role will primarily involve evaluating existing funds and investment strategies for institutional UK clients.  We think scientifically, meaning we are driven by evidence and so the candidate must be both numerate and analytically minded and enjoy open challenge of opinions.  An eye for detail and an ability to express their opinions clearly (both verbally and written) is a must.

Specifically, the role will include:

  • Working closely with founders and owners
  • Being part of a unique team and process
  • Covering all asset classes, no specialisation
  • Meeting fund managers and holding calls with them
  • Writing up manager research reports
  • Updating existing fund reports
  • New fund and manager research
  • Monitoring fund returns and fund positioning
  • Organising due diligence meetings and documentation
  • Peer review of fund reports
  • Attending conferences and events
  • Collating client reports

The importance of Being Comfortable Inside a Small Team:  You will be the sixth member of the fund research team in Reigate.   Over the past 3 years, we more than trebbled our customer base, which has been incredibly rewarding for everyone in the firm.  We have also won some awards and are an established investment consultancy.  Each person in the Fundhouse team is clearly important and is directly involved in building the business and you work closely with the founder, each day.  You will also feel a deep sense of purpose and of differentiation from our peers.  But it can also be a challenge – working in a small team means we all need to get along very well and that egos are kept in check.  We are also hard working and output oriented.  As can be expected, job descriptions become blurred, because we can all do everything and the rewards may be more longer term in nature than if you worked for a far larger, established firm.

Personal Attributes:

  • Finds fulfilment in doing the right thing
  • Analytical and sceptical
  • Decisive once the evidence is in
  • Self motivated, driven
  • Positive
  • Communicates well, likeable, easy to get on with
  • Reliable, dependable, loyal
  • Follows through on the task at hand
  • Output oriented
  • Detail oriented (and likes reading)
  • Questions everything
  • Likes to be on time
  • Is interested in investments and fund management as an industry
  • Happy being involved in an “all hands on deck” environment

System Skills:

  • Advanced Excel is a necessity
  • Reuters
  • Writing skills (would be handy if they could write well)
