We are looking for an experienced person to join our Compliance and Risk team based in Wolverhampton. The successful candidate will work closely with the Chief Risk and Compliance Officer and broader Investment team.

LGPS Central Limited has been established to consolidate and manage the pension fund assets of nine Midland’s based public funds.

The candidate will maintain LGPSC’s compliance with investment risk related regulatory reporting requirements using appropriate systems, whilst ensuring risk systems and reporting are developed and implemented alongside business development and fund launces.

The role will involve the production of metrics for AIFMD/Annex IV reporting, completion of investment risk reports and presenting these to the relevant committees and identifying risks and risk mitigation.

The risk team plays a key role in supporting the Investment Manager’s as well as other internal and external colleagues. The role does involve a level of challenge to ensure we maintain an effective and efficient risk management service the appointee will also oversee key risk processes.

The ideal candidate will hold a degree level qualification with strong mathematical and numerical skills and/or a relevant industry qualification with strong experience across Investment Risk. You will be expected to continuously update your learning and knowledge in post.

Role

Outcomes:

  • Maintain LGPSC’s compliance with investment risk related regulatory reporting requirements using appropriate systems
  • Ensure risk systems and reporting are developed and implemented alongside business developments and fund launches.
  • To put in place and operate effective Investment Risk management for public and private markets.
  • Maintenance and update of the Investment Risk management framework and programme production of relevant metrics to be included within AIFMD/Annex IV reporting
  • Produce and provide meaningful analysis of Investment Risk for effective 2nd line monitoring
  • Appropriately challenge the Investment Team regarding the Investment Risk on the portfolios/funds managed
  • Maintain awareness of regulations and advise CCRO of upcoming developments and changes
  • Maintenance and reporting on key Investment Risk indicators
  • Completion of Investment Risk reports and supporting documents.  Presenting these to the relevant committees, Board, ARCC, ExCo, IC and ORCA as required.
  • Investment Risk training and communication
  • To assist in the identification of Investment Risks and ensuring steps are taken to manage and mitigate these, reporting as appropriate.
  • To ensure that the skills and knowledge of the Compliance & Investment Risk team are developed to a high level, and to be an advocate of continuous professional development.
  • To promote the work of the Compliance & Investment Risk team within the company, including the delivery of Investment Risk training.
  • To actively identify opportunities for continuous improvement and implement them swiftly and effectively.
  • To play an active role in industry groups and initiatives, acting as an ambassador for LGPS Central and building strong and lasting relationships with other organisations.

  • Significant experience of undertaking Investment Risk roles in an asset management/pensions environment.
