The CapitalAgricultural Property Services, Inc. (CAPS) unit of PAI provides propertymanagement services in the Western Region. CAPS is seeking to expand its farmmanagement team by hiring a Farm Manager for the Pacific Northwest with experiencewith apples and wine grapes to be part of our Western Region team located inFresno, CA location. This position willbe based in the Pacific Northwest and will have occasional travel to Fresno formeetings as needed.
This position willreport directly to the Western Region Vice President of Farming. This role will manage a group of propertiesmanaged by CAPS in the Western United States and will be responsible for alloperational aspects for assigned farms.
PrimaryResponsibilities Include:Farm Management:
Act as central point of contact withonsite managers and with internal team members for all operational related matters;
Assist onsite managers with thedevelopment of annual crop operating budgets, and capital expenditure budgets;
Work in conjunction with onsite managersand provide oversight of all horticultural practices on properties for both newdevelopments and mature planting, including activities related to landpreparation, water management, training/pruning, crop protection,fertility/soil amendments, harvest, etc.;
Visit properties regularly and reviewmonthly costs as compared to budget for monthly operations reporting;
Review and approve invoices from onsitemanagers monthly;
Provide recommendations for the selectionof onsite managers and crop marketing firms;
Assist with implementation of capitalprojects including soliciting and analyzing bids, coordinating schedules, andmanaging deadlines;
Understand and ensure compliance withState and Federal laws governing farm operations including environmentalregulations, food safety, and water and labor laws;
Assist with the due diligence of newacquisitions including the assessment of site suitability, general crop health,soil quality and water quality as needed.
8+ years ofexperience in relative farm management experience;
An undergraduatedegree in an Agricultural related field;
Real Estate Salesor Brokerage license would be highly desirable (will eventually be required);
Strong work ethicwith a commitment to customer service
Excellent oraland written communications skill;
Strongorganizational skills and attention to detail;
Demonstrable knowledgeof how property-level decisions translate into return performance;
PersonalComputer Skills (Excel and Word);
Proven ability todevelop, cultivate, and manage high quality relationships with existing andpotential onsite managers, colleagues, industry participants, and clients.
