The IT manager of Equity Trading systems operates in the Investment Management application development organization and is responsible for current and future strategic projects that intend to transform the landscape of technology for Equity Traders, Quant Developers, and Data Scientists involved in equity fund management, along with improving the operational state of this domain's suite of applications and systems.

This leader must have a strong executive presence, an awareness of modern and large scale equity trade execution methods and software systems, and be capable of rapidly learning advances in relevant technology aligned with the strategic direction of the firm's Equity fund management and trading capabilities.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead a global team of 8 staff responsible for software development and system configuration in the Equity Trading and Investment Quant Research departments
  • Act as a team leader and mentor capable of coordinating and managing a diverse team across multiple geographic regions
  • Responsible for technical quality and system reliability for the Equity Trading domain
  • Actively manage vendor contracts and obligations, bringing an ability to scrutinize and negotiate software licensing, professional services, and SLA terms, in conjunction with the coordination of all activities with multiple vendors providing both staff augmentation, software products, and services
  • Using one's influence and technical know-how, establish a network of contacts across the firm, drawing from this pool of contacts to eliminate roadblocks and solve problems when they arise
  • Collaborate with heads of desk worldwide, balancing and arbitrating the distinct capabilities required between regions
  • Drive innovation in everything the role is exposed to.

Qualifications
Experience and Qualifications
  • A proven ability to inspire and professionally develop a staff of software engineers
  • Ability to translate business objectives into technical ramifications for engineers
  • Deep understanding of investment management functions, ideally including specialized experience with equity trading and quantitative portfolio construction concepts & practices; a solid understanding of the role of an OMS, EMS, typical front- middle- and back-office data exchange, and commonly used protocols such as FIX
  • Deep understanding of databases, contemporary data models, APIs, web services, data messaging, reporting and visualization platforms
  • Familiarity with modern PaaS platforms including microservice architecture and design patterns is a plus
  • An enduring interest in new software technologies, practices, tools, and techniques
  • A proven willingness to debate, contend with, and reshape legacy/status quo environments
