We are looking for a Manager of Investment Operations and Analytics with the Franklin Equity Group investment research team in San Mateo, CA.What is the Franklin Equity Group responsible for?
The Franklin Equity Group (FEG) manages over $100 Billion in actively managed equity mutual funds for our retail and institutional clients. FEG brings together more than six decades of investment experience offering in-depth expertise in managing growth, value and hybrid/balanced equity investment strategies that cover global, regional and sector specialties. FEG uses a disciplined, bottom-up fundamental research process and team-oriented collaborative approach to drive attractive risk adjusted returns.
What are the responsibilities of the Manager of Investment Operations and Analytics?
Research Database Management:
Produce high level ongoing and ad hoc reports for the Chief Investment Officer (CIO) and Director of Research.
Develop and implement metrics to enable the Director of Research to manage research analysts. Perform database queries to increase transparency for the Director of Research.
Lead change management processes which lead to reporting and querying efficiencies to the research database.
Develop, implement and manage processes that increase operational effectiveness and enhances the quality and timeliness of information.
Manage and execute special projects in support of the CIO and Senior Management:
Act as a decision support system for Director of Research. Propose, analyze and implement technology solutions from market data vendors and internal IT departments.
Assist the CIO with the integration of the new global growth research platform which includes international sites.
Work with the CIO to formulate fiscal year plans and drive the department’s strategic, operational, and organizational initiatives.
Responsible for department budgets:
Monitor the controllable expense budget and investigate discrepancies for CIO.
Manage the client commission budget and keep the CIO abreast of changes in regulatory environments.
Act as a proxy for CIO and collaborate with senior level personnel (VP or Director) in other investment management, information technology, marketing, investment operations, and legal departments.
Manage the CIO’s annual performance measurement process for the Senior Management team, as well as the annual performance measurement of portfolio managers and analysts.
What ideal qualifications, skills & experience would help someone to be successful?
Undergraduate degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or Information Systems
5 -10 years working within the Mutual Fund industry. Preferably five years spent working with an investment management division.
Microsoft Access, Query, Word, Excel, Project, and Visio proficiency
Strong project management skills and proven experience driving complex, technology-driven initiatives that cross business lines, functions and geographies.
Ability to work in a cross-functional capacity enlisting the support and expertise of others throughout the firm.
Ability to partner with senior management in other organizations to accomplish objectives.
Ability to function both independently and as part of a team. This role will make decisions on behalf of senior management.
Ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
Possess a positive 'get the job done' attitude and remain flexible in an ever-changing environment.
Develop solutions to a variety of problems; ensure solutions are consistent with organization objectives
