We are looking for a talented and passionate Manager/Senior Manager of Financial Reporting (SEC) to join our finance team. This role will be responsible for SEC reporting, financial statement preparation and liaising and coordinating with various internal and external partners, such as corporate accounting, tax, treasury, investor relations, external auditors, etc. We are open to candidates with audit and SEC experience straight out of a Big 4 accounting firm or industry.

This position will be located in one of our western region offices: San Mateo (CA), Rancho Cordova (CA) or Salt Lake City (UT).

What are the ongoing responsibilities of the Manager of Financial Reporting?

The Manager ensures that financial statements issued by FRI’s subsidiaries are in compliance with GAAP and applicable regulations within the U.S. and will liaise with non-US locations on reporting needs, including reporting standards (IFRS and others).

  • Core responsibilities and deliverables listed below but are not limited to:

  • Contribute to the preparation and review of financial reports filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission, including Forms 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K for earnings releases, annual report, proxy, and XBRL documents.

  • Coordinate and lead the preparation of certain audited financial statements of subsidiaries, including 401k Plan and ESIP, and coordinate audit with external auditors.

  • Ensure all SEC reports are filed in compliance with applicable regulations, including XBRL requirements, and in accordance with the corporate calendar.

  • Coordinate and lead the review of subsidiary financial statements; participate in the development and maintenance of standardized audited financial statement templates.

  • Benchmark disclosures of industry peers’ filings.
  • Manage the quarterly impairment analysis for goodwill, intangibles and other assets.

  • Monitor SOX compliance for financial reporting activities.
  • Participate in cross functional projects and assist other functions with financial reporting and disclosure matters.

  • Liaise with other areas of finance, including consolidation, corporate accounting, global accounting policy, tax, corporate treasury, investor relations, AUM operations & reporting, financial strategies, and other business areas including legal and human resources.

  • Drive continuous improvement in the financial reporting process.

  • Establish and monitor staff performance review process.
  • Ensure that appropriate career feedback is provided at all levels within the group.

  • Implement new financial reporting requirements in partnership with global accounting policy.

  • Assist in the development and maintenance of the Company’s Global Financial Reporting Policies and Procedures, and ensure that they are in compliance with US GAAP.

  • Participate in the Global Financial Reporting group’s planning and business review processes.

  • Participate in various Financial Reporting management meetings and policy development processes.

What ideal qualifications, skills & experience would help someone to be successful in this role?
  • A minimum of 5 years of related work experience in SEC reporting with Public Accounting experience at a Big 4, national or large regional CPA firm.
  • BS/BA degree in Finance or Accounting
  • Thorough knowledge of US GAAP and reporting standards
  • Knowledge and exposure to international accounting issues and reporting requirements
  • A minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience
  • Experience with automated financial systems, including the general ledger, is preferred
  • CPA or equivalent professional accounting designation is required
  • Strong oral and written communications skills
  • Developed organizational skills combined with good interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical personnel
  • Ability to handle cultural and language considerations
  • Strong project management and decision-making skills
