Business Unit Overview:

The Performance Measurement and Attribution (PMA) team is a part of the Global Accounting and Product Services (GAAPS) group. PMA always has the aim of aligning our performance attribution solutions with the evolving needs of our clients!

Quality analytics are a critical component to the feedback loop, and something our clients expect.

We focus on being students of technology and drive the deployment and development of the next generation of performance analysis and tools. We work together with a diverse group of teams to deliver performance measurement, evaluation, and attribution analysis for investment information and governance, globally.

As a member of PMA, you take part in the story and take ownership as a subject matter authority! We are responsible for investment performance and attribution analyses globally across fixed income, index equity, systematic active equity, and multi-asset strategies. We also oversee the firm's GIPS composites. You get to work with multiple business divisions, including the iShares equity product suite, institutional equity, beta strategies and fixed income products. The team focuses on using technology and project management to improve existing processes to optimize data delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ownership of calculation of benchmark performance across asset classes including equity, fixed income, commodities, cash, derivatives, targets and multi-asset.

  • Be a source of performance and system knowledge, providing mentorship and expertise to partners across the business in relation to benchmark construction, performance holidays and calculation methodology.

  • Be responsible for the monthly construction and dissemination of quality-controlled contribution & performance attribution reports for Index Asset Allocation business.

  • There will be opportunities to create links with Portfolio Engineering and attribution specialists to provide quality attribution analysis and ex-post content.

  • Learn and gain a full understanding of internal analytical systems (Aladdin), and use them to investigate internal and external client inquires related to content and functionality of BlackRock's performance attribution reporting applications.

  • Support PMA team members in cross functional learning processes and development.
Knowledge / Experience:

  • You have a performance, attribution or index background with a minimum of 2 years' industry experience.

  • You want to learn about multi-asset, fixed income and equity instruments, and their associated performance attribution models.

  • You enjoy analysing large data sets, including design and testing methods.

  • You display a knowledge of performance principles; experience with external performance tools a plus.

  • You are passionate about learning new technologies.

  • You show a positive, proactive get the job done attitude and are flexible to an ever-changing environment.
Skills / Qualifications:

  • Graduated with a bachelor's degree or national equivalent

  • You show strong problem-solving acumen, and the ability to synthesise information, summarise issues, and take initiative

  • Open to learning - BlackRock provides a wealth of information and this role is ideal for someone who is hungry to learn as much as possible

  • Experience of SQL, Python, VBA or similar languages welcome

  • We pride ourselves on our principles - we want an excellent communicator, both verbal and written, who displays strong interpersonal interactions, especially due to the location of the role

  • You should feel comfortable interacting independently on projects and owning internal relationships
