Responsibilities

• Research and analyze all payments related to railcar capitalized improvements
• Collaborate with the Mechanical department to fully understand all capital projects and supporting data
• Prepare monthly reporting and journal entries for railcar capitalized improvements
• Calculate and update depreciation for capitalized expenses in the lease accounting system
• Provide support to accounting and research open items on general ledger account reconciliations
• Assist with operating expense analysis and monthly reporting.
• Additional ad hoc operating expense analysis projects
• Perform monthly transaction review to identify potential operational risk events
• Assist with railcar property taxes, data gathering, variance analysis and full support of a third party vendor
• Audit support: data gathering and review for recurring-type items provided to auditors and regulators
• Perform other duties as necessary

Qualifications


• This position is well suited for someone with a few years’ relevant experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance

• Understanding of GAAP and SOX internal controls, lease accounting, and capital additions and improvements
• Analytical ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment and to clearly communicate findings
• Ability to prepare and maintain complex transactional financial analysis in Excel, including knowledge of pivot tables and advanced formulas (vlookup, sumif, etc.)
• Extraordinarily organized, able to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced organization
• Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact with all levels in the organization
• Team oriented and dependable
