Forensics Experienced Manager
The Forensic Advisory Services Experienced Manager is responsible for all phases of project and engagement management for multiple clients in a wide variety of industries. Responsibilities include planning, directing, and completing projects and services in the areas of dispute resolution and internal investigations, as well as developing and managing staff. The Experienced Manager works closely with partners and staff on client management, practice development, and business development.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Dispute resolution: Manage large and complex business dispute engagements and /or post-acquisition dispute arbitrations, advise on strategy and provide valuable insight and clarity to counsel on financial and accounting issues throughout all stages of the dispute; assist in preparing questions for discovery and deposition of potential witnesses, assist in reviewing and refuting the testimony and analysis of other expert witnesses, and design demonstratives and exhibits. Responsible for designing, overseeing and preparing analyses to support expert opinions, drafting reports and summaries based on conclusions drawn, and developing recommendations for favorable outcomes.
Internal Investigations: Manage internal investigation engagements involving alleged asset misappropriation, accounting impropriety or regulatory issues, including selecting techniques and procedures that are most appropriate for the situation, designing workplans and reporting of observations and findings
Oversee and perform data and document intensive financial analysis and conduct technical accounting research and investigative data analysis.
Work closely with engagement teams and manage and conduct forensic accounting procedures on multiple engagements concurrently.
Work closely with Grant Thornton Senior Managers and partners to promptly identify and resolve client problems or issues.
Maintain active communication with clients to manage expectations, ensure satisfaction, and become a trusted business partner.
Manage, develop, train, and mentor staff on projects and assess performance for engagement and year-end reviews.
Manage business development activities, such as drafting proposals, preparing whitepapers, attending and speaking at conferences, and/or preparation of other thought leadership material.
Adhere to the highest degree of professional standards and strict client confidentiality.
Meet or exceed sales targets for new and follow-on work.
Meet or exceed targeted billing hours (utilization).
Actively participate in recruiting top talent to the firm.
Other job duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree (MS Accounting, MBA) or law degree preferred
Certification/licensed as CPA (required), CFA and/or CFE preferred
6 -10 years of experience in the areas of dispute resolution and internal investigations
Dispute resolution: Experience should include a demonstrated ability to advise litigators through the development, evaluation, and assessment of financial and accounting issues and preparation of attorney work product to support case strategies.
Strong business acumen and understanding of U.S. and
international legal systems
Superior critical thinking and deductive/inductive reasoning skills
Experienced in reading and digesting a large volume of business and legal information and understanding it; highly proactive in offering observations, opinions and recommendations.
Experienced in performing technical accounting research in the context of dispute resolution and internal investigations.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to effectively and efficiently manage workload under pressure and set deadlines
Ability to effectively and efficiently manage resources under budgetary and other restrictions
Ability to work additional hours and travel as needed
