Product Development Analyst

The Product Development Analyst is responsible for defining opportunities within the new products strategy of ABN AMRO Clearing Chicago, delivering a well-researched business case, market and client segment analysis, and business, technical, and operational requirements.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Lead AACC to Strategic Growth in New Products
    • Work with Head of New Products, Head of Commercial, and Senior Management to identify strategic opportunities for AACC
    • Communicate product roadmap and act as champion to all stakeholders, especially Commercial, Operations, and IT partners
  • Manage Product Development Lifecycle
    • Meet with customers and internal stakeholders to understand requirements (interviews, ride-alongs, etc.)
    • Build & maintain exchange relationships to understand execution/market structure
    • Review call reports from Commercial and other business teams for customer requirements
    • Create business case for enhancements based on cost/benefit analysis, industry analysis, or other drivers
    • Draft clear business requirement documents/JIRA tickets
      • Ensure buy-in from end users/stakeholders
      • Include mock-ups, screen shots, examples
    • Establish KPIs/Success measures for all products and features
    • Work closely with Continuous Improvement efforts at AACC to ensure teams have sufficient capacity for change
    • Work with IT Business Development team to ensure IT requirements are implemented
    • Coordinate with business and IT teams on internal tooling and stability requirements
    • Prepare internal and customer-facing release notes for product and feature releases
    • Convene regular meetings of stakeholders to review and prioritize functionality, compliance, and stability requests
    • Sign off on QA and UAT test plans for new applications
    • Create new procedures as needed to ensure products remain competitive
  • Maintain Industry and Competitive Intelligence
    • Create client-facing content (e.g. quarterly customer publication) around new products and opportunities
    • Attend industry conferences and build influence
    • Read articles, white papers, etc. on industry topics and summarize impact for senior management and customers
    • Maintain competitive intelligence library on new product opportunities
  • Create content for sales collateral, customer-facing roadmaps
    • Liaise with marketing to ensure publication meets global AAC standards
    • Liaise with Compliance to ensure customer communications and advertising are compliant

Qualities and Experience

  • Highly self-motivated
  • Strong analytical and business writing skills
  • 1-2 years experience in a product management, business analyst, or equivalent role in the financial services industry
  • Prepared to travel in the US and internationally to visit clients, affiliates, partners, and exchanges
  • Familiarity with Financial Industry protocols and techenical standards preferred (FIX, SWIFT, etc.)
  • Familiarity with market structure and regulatory environment in EU or US preferred
  • Familiarity with Agile development models preferred
  • Comfortable using JIRA and Confluence to manage requirements and development process
